Certainly no shortage of truly beautiful locations around Angoulême… here’s a view we enjoyed over a beer at Verteuil-sur-Charente:



Also come back across the Loire via the national roads and the trip will reward you in terms of scenery and driving pleasure. It’s a great event and excuse for a road trip.

We have previously done the organised rally on the Sat but the last couple of times have driven out to lunch in the most beautiful town of Brantôme by the river to the South West.

Highly recommended.

We love Brantome, that’s our spot for lunch on Saturday every year. Incredible roads through the forests on the way there and back and some stunning villages.









Stopped off for a bite to eat in Tours on the way down last year, fab place and thoroughly recommend.


Managed to get the same accommodation for this Sepetmer’s trip, with a rather decent view of the lower hairpin

Started planning this year’s trip, looking for somewhere on the way down about 4 hrs from Calais and also another stop off half way back.

A great hotel not far from Le Mans used to be Aston Martins team hotel and the owner races at Angouleme, La Chartre sur le Loire.
