... which the driver obviously wants to do, since they have chosen to run at less than WOT. This is helping the driver achieve their desired power, not hindering them.

If this reduces the manifold depression needed for a given torque, this is likely to be reducing pumping losses as well. Does this translate to better fuel economy?
