Looking for a bit of advice. I have a 1996 e36 M3 that is track prepared. The only things that are still standard are the engine and gearbox.

I have had the car for about 10 years and has been used mostly on track apart from driving to and from the venue.

I had an updated clutch fitted with a lightweight flywheel about 5 years ago and to be honest it has never felt right as the bite point was right at the bottom of the pedal travel and was like an on off switch. I think it is coming to the end of its life as when the gearbox is warm the clutch only just about disengages, crunching gears especially into 3rd and feels like you want to push the pedal through the bulkhead to get a smooth gear change.

When it was fitted the bite point was very low and I asked the garage to adjust it but there was no adjustment left.

My question is considering it is the 3 litre version of the M3 and has 150,000 miles on the clock so it may have lost a few horses, it is not a powerful car. Is there any benefit to an unrated clutch compared to the standard which will have a much better feel and hopefully more adjustment to get the bite point in a better position

Thanks in advance

Could be air, or could be a crappy clutch.

If there is no reason to have an "uprated" clutch....don't fit one.
