petrol in evaporation tank golf mk4 turbo

has anybody had any experience with their golf gti turbo(2001 eum model) filling up the evap tank with neat petrol, my wife went shopping yesterday and rang me to tell me that petrol was dripping from the front of her car, AA came,checked all the pipes and gave it a diagnostic check but still couldn't understand why petrol was still going into the evap, my wife explained to him that it had had the cam belt and water pump replaced by my our local vw dealer a couple of days before and so he seems to think that they have damaged or put something back wrong.
Anyway its at the dealer now and i'm waiting for phone call to tell me what the problem is, but i don't want to be fobbed off with them telling me its something thats nothing to do with the cambelt change when it was, it seems a bit of a coincidence.
