Have a friend who's interested in this GranSport:

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/m...

Anyone know the car, or had any experience with this dealer?

Not got much experience of looking at the Maserati brand, would this be a decent buy at around £30k, or is it worth spending another £5-7k and getting into a GranTurismo?

He will only be doing about 4,000 miles a year, mostly in West London.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Cheers.

In terms of reliability Granturismo will be years ahead based on what I have read about 3200/4200/GS era cars on sportmaserati forum

Last serviced in June 15 so due a service.

If you're mate is in west London, he should give Nareman at Nuvola London a call. He's a very well regarded Maserati specialist based in/around Shepherds Bush area. http://www.nuvolalondon.com/

For help with all things Maserati, SportsMaserati.co.uk is the place to go. Great forum, very friendly and superb knowledge.

A good GranSport is a great car to buy, enjoy and even in todays unsure markets dare I say... appreciate... 3ish years ago this car was sub £20k and even if things changed suddenly at this level it's not going to fall through the floor.

It's also (relatively speaking) not an expensive car to run, the servicing is generally sensible (this car is due an annual now as mentioned and the next big mileage service is 56k miles) and many great specialists are out there to serve this, likewise the expensive Maserati/Ferrari shared parts are now often available as pattern/OEM equivalents and plenty of information online about the whole 32/4200 series cars.

In my opinion the same can't be said about a 4.2 GT.... Not a bad car at all but dynamically its for a different audience of course, they can be very expensive to maintain and early cars generally are troublesome.
