I just had a Cielo for a week. Really liked it, and with the top down, it sounded quite decent. Just posted a full review.
Where can I read it?

Are you they same guy who used to contribute to evo mag? If so enjoyed that, thanks!
Yes, I used to contribute to EVO. New site is SSOReport

Sad to say that MC20's are just not moving. I've been eyeballing a few and some sitting around for a year with prices dropping using AT price tracker!

Put a plate into wbac and it came back with a 30ish grand offer?!?!

I like the idea but geesh. That's insane. Coupled with Stellantis' woes and production numbers for the brand falling off a cliff, where do people think a real price level is? Any recent brave souls attempted to purchase one or haggled over any? I can't imagine dealerships will be too happy sitting on them for ages. Anyone put a cheeky bid in and had it rejected?

£30k!?!?!!?!?!? Seriously? I mean bargain of the century for WBAC - or whoever they shift them on to. It makes me weep, but combined with my document woes and now having it in one piece, I made the decision to drive it, enjoy it, rack up the miles, and write it all off as a 'sunk cost' and not to think about the depreciation, in the hope that when I one day decide to shift it on, I'll be able to say that at least I drove the hell out of it and enjoyed it!

Why would anyone think it would buck the usual Maserati depreciation curve?

Just input the much higher numbers.

I always look at collecting cars to have an idea of price (just add their commission).

3 months old so I'd knock 10-15 off that atleast.

I’ve been so close to booking a couple of appointments to view MC20’s but the depreciation side is putting me on high alert, once they come down to the 120/125k mark I may risk it.

Is this the same car?

I believe this type of car will likely depreciate to around £60-70k as it becomes 7+ years old. Similarly, much like the McLaren shown below, it could be available in the £70-80k range as a 5-year-old vehicle with higher mileage and a less desirable specification. I would not buy yet, unless you are prepared to lose over £25k per year in depreciation.

The problem with waiting for cars to plateau is that you never get one, and if everybody else did the same then nobody would ever get one.

Cars depreciate, some worse than others, this article highlights that https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-six-of-the-bes... and these days the 'discretionary toy' market is also taking a hammering with higher finance rates and declining economic output.

But the thing is, they are worth that much to someone, and if they want one then they need to be prepared to take the hit, so if they have the money then why not?

That was my old MC20 which I sold on Collecting Cars. It’s not the car listed in AT - that has a carbon engine cover, my old one didn’t.

Fantastic thing and thoroughly recommend if you are tempted.

Sold to a lovely guy who I hope is putting some miles on it and enjoying it more than I did!

I'm curious as to why anyone would pay the best part of £140k inc fees on CC when they are advertised for similar?

You’d have to ask the buyer but my car was totally mint and perhaps he had an aversion to car dealers smile

Just had a browse on Autotrader and there's a black one at HR Owen Hatfield for £150k!

Doesn't have much/any carbon but still, that is an incredible price & depreciation for what is essentially a brand new car!
Considering this post was in Oct 23, I’ve seen a black one up at £150k at Hatfield now - 15months later, I wonder if it’s the same car???

The only thing I didn’t like about the car was the noise. I’ve no idea what Maserati were thinking when they made the previous gen Granturismo sound so fabulous - I appreciate its turbo charged but Ferrari manage to make their blown cars sound decent. Other than that - it’s a monumental car and a real event.

You only live once etc

The new Granturismo is making the MC20 depreciation look positively bouyant! rofl

£30k off without even turning a wheel.

Christ on a bike, that's batst crazy stuff. I'd assumed you were talking about the ridiculously priced electric version but no, it's also the 2 petrol versions being advertised on auto trader brand new with those kinds of discounts!!! They're lovely things, miss my old one but it feels like the brand is in freefall ATM. Someone will get a bargain but I'm not overly keen on trying to catch a falling knife. No knowing where values will end up.

I would say a HUGE percentage of previous Maserati customers (maybe more than any other marque) purchased due to the sound of that V8.

i had 3 and the noise was by far the best thing about that car and the reason i kept buying.
2nd was looks, lastly dynamics (though the gransport was a good drive in its day)

I expect people like maserati to be hit hardest by the sound thing, bit like Lambo, not quite as much, as looks & speed are as important for them, Ferrari trade on dynamics, looks & kudos far more and theyve made some st sounding cars already and got away with it.

Maserati though, yeah, a very tough time for them imo.

They bet the farm on that Nettuno V6 and it just isn't playing out.

Much like AMG with the i4 hybrid C63, they thought that the car was the draw when for a large number of buyers it was the engine and emotion.

GranTurismo should have the V8 that's in the Ghibli and QP Trofeo models, then keep the Folgore EV version to placate the rule makers and California buyers.

The engine does sound good though albeit perhaps not as good as the V8. It certainly isn't competing with a 4cyl car for sound.
