Monaro passenger side central locking motor repair guide.

The passenger side central door locking motor is the same as the Vauxhall Omega. The link below takes you to a motor repair guide on the Omega owner forum.
The driver side may also be the same motor.

Just posting it here in the hope it crops up in someone's google search in the future as I found so much conflicting information about this...

Stock LS2 cam base circle is 1.520"

Some people said it was 1.552", some 1.525", one (correct) person said it was 1.520" per GM's spec but measured up as 1.519".

This is what I found too, it's done 66,000 miles so given the cheap nature of my calipers, I'm going to assume it's right on 1.520".

I think the LS1/LS6 cams may be 1.552" and that's where the confusion began, who knows, there may well be some that are 1.525".

Either way, stock LS2 cam as per our cars is 1.520". As you were! thumbup

Monaro rear wheel bearing - all variants, left or right side.

Brand : SKF
Part no. VKBA1326

This seems a quality bearing and was fitted to my Monaro with out issue.
It was pressed in and out in situ without the need to remove the trailing arm or anything significant from the car so beware of garages telling you different - I had this.

There are loads of other brands of bearing that will also fit, just make sure the dimensions are as follows...

Outer diameter 74mm
Inner diameter 37mm
Width 45mm

Might be worth noting there was no detectable movement or play from my wheel, it was solely a typical humming noise, however this noise reduced significantly if the weight was taken off it slightly for example when going round a sweeping bend.
Hope this helps someone smile

Hi,
I’ve got some sprayed Omega B door handles that didn’t come with rods and also some Omega B door handles with rods.
Technically according to the guide it’s a straight swap with the handles and rods.

I have an early big boot “VZ”, and the Omega B rods are the wrong angle when fitted.
I ended up using the normal Monaro rods and fitted them on the inside of the lug rather than the outside on the Omega ones.
To do this I’ve carefully cut the webbing back on the inside of the lug so the rod clip is flush.

Everything fits well now, just a reference if anyone gets stuck.

Should add if your visiting Aus bring your V5 and id to Holden dealer and they will print out all of your cars security details on the spot.

Monaro VXR front fog lights - a skinflint's alternative to OEM replacements

Original Monaro VXR front foglights are somewhat susceptible to breaking. As replacements are a fair chunk of £££, I decided to try something different. Can't claim full credit as I'd seen another Monaro owner who'd fitted these already smile

Lights - 3"/76mm version, approx £10 a pair at time of posting: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2Pcs-Car-COB-LED-Angel-...

They're LED foglights surrounded by a DRL LED ring - wired individually. I connected the foglights to the existing wiring. DRL rings I've got set up using a generic DRL controller (a fancy relay) with 12v from the battery - mine are rigged to switch on with the ignition, and go off once dipped beam is switched on. You could of course choose to ignore the DRL bit completely as I did for the first few months after fitting...

3"/76mm version fits the oval foglight aperture well enough:

And with the DRL rings surrounding the foglights wired up:

Need a pulley puller to remove the harmonic balancer? Don't fancy bdising a 2 / 3 prong generic one on there or paying the $150 + shipping / duty etc. for an 'LS' one?

This £40 (delivered) Chinesium one works fine, made by Autool (the name to trust eh? hehe)

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174448127827

It's also pretty compact, so other than removing the cooling fans you could probably do it without much disassembly if that's your thing. Obviously I have no association with said Chinese product hehe

Oh, and that's a 24mm socket you'll need for the chinese bolt thumbup

The actual bolt in to the crank needs heat to undo, it's a waste of time trying to undo it by force, get a torch on it for a minute or so and it undoes really easily.

O2 sensor failure on an 04 monaro cv8

so one of the 02 sensors fitted 5 years ago has failed , they both came off easily , i tried cleaning them both carb cleaner and petrol but no effect , so i was not sure which one was at fault as a standard code reader can’t read the faults , it was just coming up on the dash but not saying what , push the usual display button and it goes away , so as above only two sensors that are post cat , the sensors plug is not the four wire square one but four wires in a row , i have the iphone app four stroke plus a wifi obd plug , the voltage of the busted one stayed at .44 to .45 and hardly moved when engine was running , so up to this point i always changed o2 sensors as a pair so i went through the older ones until i found a working one just by plugging it in and lightly screwing it into the exhaust till i found a working one , the working sensors are moving from around 0.05 to .90 , one sensor i had was slower to move so binned they one off , the four stroke display shows both sensors working at the same time , so fingers now crossed , i then found a second display on the dash probably common knowledge but i did not know , ignition off push the mode and select together then ignition on that’s one display then scroll through , second display just press the mode button turn ignition on second display scroll through ,
the 02 sensor part number is 0258005703 , bank 1 sensor 1 is the left side of the exhaust as you look forward from the back of the car , the bank 2 sensor 1 is the right side of the exhaust , worth some wd40 before trying to remove , i have headers which i think has made things easier
