some chap with a lime green Sag has done it (there are two lime green sags). I would not do it myself, I think the idea is great and I can see why you would like to do it but the service bonnet is so heavy as it is and I would want to be reducing weight not adding to it.
Agreed Paul...don't add weight...unless you are going to supercharge that is wink

I would also say that if you are looking to do this, you will need to replace the actual vents themselves, to fit with the curve of the bonnet.

The only person to successfully do this aftermarket I think is brendan at concept performance. You can't just motorise the existing bonnet though, the flaps dont fit! .. it needs re-shaping work to make them fit / move properly. brendan is your man though.

Mine was done by S&D with the dash ecu reprogrammed to control the actuator.
The actual design was by someone else, can’t remember his name now.

The original flaps were used.

I'm working on this one....

from research so far, (thanks to the guys on Robot shop) it looks like a 12v linear autunix actuator with self limit stops and a DPDT relay wired via fans will do the job....

parts are ordered, will report back when i get it all together

Hi,

I am looking at motorising the bonnet vents/flaps on the Sag and was sure someone on here had done it already but I can't find the info.

So, has anyone done this and could save me re-inventing the wheel ?

I know TVR didn't bother as it kept cooking the motor which, for some reason, they put in the hottest place in the engine bay. I'm sure it's possible by moving the motor elsewhere.
Just considering the various options at the moment.

Any info/suggestions very much appreciated.
Yes. Brendan at concept performance does. I had this on my Sagaris and Alex/tim did too.

Has anyone thought of using them temperature operated openers they use on greenhouse windows? They open when it's warm and close when it's cold.

They would always be open with the heat from the engine. When I owned a Sag , I was scared of the whole bonnet coming off at any speed over 100 mph smile . So any attempt to restrict the airflow doesn't seem a good idea , in fact I got the flaps opened as far as they would go ,

Ref air flow under the bonnet - I always liked the idea of routing the air from the radiators out of the front vent.
