I find that the leather in my Vantage is extremely fragile and every time I look I see more scuffs and wear. Don't really want to draw comparisons to others cars I have, but I wish it was a bit tougher.

Anyway, has anyone had their seats retrimmed? Maybe to change colour? Any recommendations for who might do the work and an idea of cost?

I might even be tempted to put a splash of colour in them... smile

Thanks.

Nick is the go to guy on this. He's had his DBS retrimmed - there is a thread on this. Having looked at it I'm getting mine done in a similar fashion.

Not a retrim but I am getting the seats on my 993 reconnolised on Wednesday. About £250 and I hear good things. Happy to report back if of interest - I am in Kent.

What does recolonised mean? Is it just a good clean or is there trimming involved?

Painted (sprayed) usually.

It's basically re colouring, feeding, cleaning and conditioning the leather.... I've seen good results from people that know what they're doing..... But obviously it'll never be as good as NEW....

I don't use my car much, so the seats are still mint, even though they're a light colour, but my neighbours Vantage is really showing signs of wear and tear......personally if I were going for a re trim, I'd be tempted to use alacantara on the vulnerable parts, as I'm sure it'd stand up better than leather...

The front seats of my 05 DB9 will be getting new leather covers during it's next service in December. I decided against re-connolising as the creases and cracks in the driver's seat will make it impossible to obtain the required finish and from past experience the process has not been very durable. My dealer has ordered new Iron Ore covers from Aston Martin, which take eight weeks to make. The cost is £2162.13 per seat (fitted) inc vat. Each seat has two separate covers - Cover assembly, front seat squab and Cover assembly, front seat cushion. I guess Vantage covers are the same price as they are almost identical to the DB9.

As the rest of the leather is as new I think it will be worth it. BTW, complete new seats cost over £12

I'll have 2smile

But I suspect he means £12k..... Which bares no relation to realitysmile....

I do know how much a hide costs, and I do know how much a decent retrim should cost...smile

A good friend of mine, still does trimming, and he's done it for 30 odd years and is very very good.... He just trimmed an old moggy minor in Connolly hide... (Red) and it looks well tidy...

Front and rear seats, all in less than £500 quidsmile... It's only leather chaps... smile

John..... I know it's your car and your money..... But that does sound like a bit of a rip off just for some leather...

Only a suggestion, so feel free to tell me to keep my nose out..... But have a look at Martrim.... They're well used to trimming high end cars, and I've seen some of there work, and its very high quality....

The problem would be matching the original colour (Iron Ore) and texture.

Probably.... But I suspect, even the new one from AM isn't going to be from the same beast as the original.... I'd make a call just out of curiosity....smile

You can go direct to Bridge of Weir and order any AM colour. That's how I had custom luggage made to match my interior leather colour.

Apparently the match is extremely good and indistinguishable to the untrained eye. Age and sunlight may have affected the rest of the leather, which will only be apparent after the new covers have been fitted.

That is a truly ridiculous price
