Many videos of VH Vantage cars feature an exhaust sound, but very few seem able to capture the realistic sound.
Having tried experimenting myself using remote microphones in different positions, most attempts have been disappointing.

Please post the best quality realistic sound videos which you have found, both V8 and V12, road and race.

How about this one to begin with?

V8 GTE testing at Monza.

I find using a decent pair of headphones makes a huge difference.

Here is one of mine taken with a go pro 8. Has a Larini back box is sounds a bit more throaty.

Your recording is very good. I listen through a household audio system, with big speakers.

Your mic presumably was the standard internal GoPro. So often wind noise is evident when a mic is in airflow, but you have managed to avoid that. Did you use a sucker mount for the camera, fixed perhaps to the tailgate? The camera moved slightly, which cleverly makes viewers think there must be a cameraman clinging on to the back of your car.

Yes it was just the built in Mike on the go pro with a sucker mount on the rear body panel. Lack of wind noise down to lick rather than judgement.

I have V8 GT, your N430 over there, with Larini valved box and secondary cat delete pipes. It sounds just incredible. I have tried recording with my iPhone and the audio does not translate well. Just does not do it justice. I need to invest in a go pro.

It's very difficult to record exhaust sounds. Microphones in phones etc are not designed to be most sensitive in that range. A proper microphone will capture it.

2008 4.7. GoPro in car and a reasonable (£50) mic on the rear bumper with a fluffy thing on to help with the wind noise.

I know yours is a V12. I meant the USA GT is the same as the British N430

No. Just the Larini box. It was fitted before I bought the car.
