So any guesses on the next variant of ‘new new Vantage’? AMR or V12 version? 007 version anyone? rolleyes Probably not a manual (as demand was so low last time).
My money would be on another V12 version in a similar vein to the previous generation. Probably another limited run and also another limited run of “no, we won’t make one” roadsters too. No doubt priced accordingly. May have to wait a while though. BRM.

Thank you very much nil, [your name shown on the profile page] for your helpful remarks.

There is nothing to discuss concerning Aston's finances.
We are unlikely to know anything new, until they report their 2024 Financial Results.

Anyway, a Vantage topic is not the place for finance talk.

AM really are on a roll. A very strong line up of cars (arguably their best so far). Roadster is beautiful.
I preferred Jags effort wink

Looks really good but agree with some of the earlier comments

"Overall I like it but disappointed they carried over the ungainly fixed roll over hoops and exposed bit of canvas roof when open which look kind of alright on a cheaper Boxster but not on an Aston at this price level.
Why not fully conceal the convertible top under a tonneau and have retractable roll over hoops like on the VH Vantage Roadster?"

On the DB 12 Volante the roof is concealed and operates in 14 seconds so it was already engineered, it looks to me like a cost saving exercise on the Vantage.

Maybe the DB 12 would be the answer as I am sure the price difference is negligible when compared to the new new Vantage and there seems plenty of new DB12's available.

Agree - similarity to the F-Type was also a discussion point for the last version when that was first released.

Very different prices for the Aston & Jag though! (It’s a shame the F-Type is no longer made (I had two of them), but fortunately, there’s still a lot of good value second hand ones available).

Has anyone seen what the ‘base price’ is for the updated roadster? £15K over the coupé?

Autocar suggests a UK base price of £175,000. The PH article suggests £180,000. The UK base price for the coupé is £165,000 so you’re in the right ball park. As far as I am aware the AML configurator does not show any prices at all, base or options. The only way to know for sure is to visit an AM MD and configure an order on their system. BRM.

Certainly a beautiful, true Aston Martin.

On the point raised, the old saying comes to mind, "If you need to ask ........".

With base £165,000, we have seen a number of the Coupes specified to £200,000+.
The Roadster is therefore likely to be moving in the direction of a quarter of a million Pounds.

I am quite happy to have £50,000 in my VH Vantage, which probably like many of our cars, is simply an occasional toy that is laid-up every winter. However wealthy any of us are, putting £250,000 into an occasional toy, might need a family discussion to justify.

Inflation can be misleading sometimes, but going above various round numbers, does make us give more thought to expenditure.

While never a fan of open top motoring, I'd also agree with this sentiment, the original VH roadster was that rare thing, an open top car that with the roof down looked just as good as the coupe.

I still think the updated coupe looks the bks though, and as noted above there's always the bigger car if it bothers too much.

Interesting design critique by Bemli:

This guy usually does some ‘spot-on’ reviews of car design and uses photoshop to illustrate his points. He absolutely loves the design of this Vantage roadster!

It looks wonderful. The VH coupe always looked better than the roadster and the new new roadster looks better than the coupe, same for previous one. Lots of lovely design details and shapes. It really works well.

I was being a little facetious, my comment was more towards how AM did the advert. Top marks from me. The car looks superb as well.

Anyone who’s been on the Aston Martin Vantage configurator since yesterday (launch of roadster) may have noticed some changes.

Presenting door handles are now standard (were a £400 option) and there’s more standard paint colours as well (Ghillies Green, Midnight Blue, Volcano Red and Concours Blue).

No price increases at this time apparently.

Another COTY with a Vantage - this time ‘Road & Track’;

Aston Martin Vantage, Bentley Continental GT Speed, BMW Z4 M40i, Lamborghini Revuelto, Maserati GranTurismo Trofeo, Mazda MX-5 Miata Club, McLaren Artura Spider, McLaren 750S, Mercedes-AMG GT 63 & Porsche 718 Spyder RS.

No, the Vantage doesn’t win (even though no 911 in the test)!

Maybe but only maybe AM realizes that even higher prices lead to even more lemons in the warehouse?

And at that ‘other level’ it’s out performed by 2 x Ferraris & Astons Valhalla (tho 600k vs 500)

Their 1000hp is a little optimistic by the sounds..
