Super. Mines diesel. No squeaks here.

When is it doing it mainly?

That's reassuring to know biglaugh

When I collected the car from the garage, I started reversing and as I turned the steering wheel, it started creaking straight away. It's definitely not a noise you can replicate unless something is broken, it sounds like a banshee is being tortured.

Has anybody encountered an issue with the 360 cameras? i.e. cameras not activating when you select reverse, or the front camera not activating when you press the CAM button on the central control

I see there's a Vettel edition for sale again - same money as when I last saw one, which was a few years ago now at the former Stockport dealership:

For that money, I'll take an X5M...

Far less miles, 575BHP and two years younger:

Good luck getting 42k for the Vettel.

I really rate the FX30. Mine is superb in terms of feel, toys and people seem to think it is so much more expensive than it actually is.

I wouldn't however be tempted by paying an extra £30k for the same car that goes a bit quicker and has a few extra bits.

Whilst I think that hte price of the Vettel is a bit much to stomach, the last time one was for sale it didn't seem to hang around for long. Admittedly the market may have changed a bit in the last 2-3 years, but we'll see I guess. Will be interesting to see how long it does hang around for.

As for the FX Vettel vs an X5 - I wouldn't have a modern X5. I like my BMWs but the modern stuff is flaky as hell. Even taking into account the age and power difference it would be the Infiniti for me.

It’s been a while gents - time to give you this thread a nudge :-)

Unfortunately the “AVM unit has failed” in my 30d. Nissan confirmed it today during the car’s service. This unit must control the 360 degree cameras as they’ve only been intermittently working for a year or so. £1500 replacement jobbie.

Has anybody else had this go pop? I’m going to check the breakers yards but my concern will be compatibility and coding etc. Need to avoid throwing good money after bad

No I haven't had that fail. I've got a DPF clogging issue that I am working through a resolve for.

The only part I had fail was the power steering hydraulic hose, £500 for the new pump and hoses from Japan. Better than fitting a second hand unit, but took 3 months.

Best of luck with the search

Cheers.

I’m trying to contextualise whether your £500 bill was reasonable or not (seems OK-ish). This camera unit would be on Japan back order too. I’ve taken to eBay where there appears to be a QX being broken. Message sent to the seller…let’s see

That was the part cost, the labour would have been a few hours to get the bumper off and change etc.

eBay seems to be our only source of parts......

£145 for the part. But taken off a 2012 model (mine is 2011). Is it worth a punt? Wonder how accessible the unit is - maybe behind the dash?

To be fair, the cars seem accessible for the home mechanic. Well no more difficult than they need to be.

Has anyone installed a chip or ECU box etc? I’m considering one for my 3.0 diesel. One company which offers one for the QX/FX is “ChipPower” with their OBD range (search eBay). Would love to know if this helps with 1st gear acceleration

Has anyone had any issues with their DPF? I've got a P242F error code, which looks to be a blocked filter, so I'm wondering if there's an easy fix or if it's a replacement DPF filter needed.

Hi.

Back in the day, we had an FX30 S Premium and getting tyres (265/45/R21) was a 'mare. There was a limited choice, not always readily available, and not inexpensive.

We're contemplating a QX70 S Premium which I guess has the same size wheels and tyres.

Has availability improved, or will I still have to sell my kidneys? Would alternative sizes be OK? Oponeo shows 255/45, 275/45 or 285/40 as possibilities, with 275/45 having more choice.

TIA

I had a FX 50 back in 2018

I’ve just sold my Aston and looking to get a ‘ all in one ‘ car for a bit. Can’t decide but am seriously considering a QX70 diesel. Seen an Ultimate edition so one of the last ones.
Wonder if it will feel a bit old hat now?

Also, did we ever get a view on mapping the 3.0d

Tyre choice has improved dramatically as 265/45/21 are now used on a lot of Jaguar and Land Rover SUV’s.

I’ll be advertising my 2012 Premium S diesel for sale shortly after owning it for 7 years. It’s been a fantastic ownership experience, full Infiniti/ Nissan franchised service history and with only 75K miles, one of the lower mileage ones for its age.
