Afternoon folks.

My girlfriend has a 2014 note that she has owned since new in September 2014 (it was a pre-reg car). The car has covered around 26k miles. Since around mid-July 2016 the car has developed an intermittent fault on a steady throttle, usually in 4th or 5th gear between 1800rpm and 2250rpm. The car suffers a ‘cough’ which feels like an momentary interruption in the fuel supply. This happens at random times and doesn’t seem to matter if the engine is hot or cold. I’ve driven the car myself and can definitely feel it happening. I can also feel it from the passenger seat. Sometimes the ’cough’ is quite abrupt and sometimes it is more gently but it is always noticeable.

Her daily commute is around 22 miles each way and most of it is on motorways. The first part of her journey (around 3-4 miles is in heavy stop start traffic).

The car has been to the dealer twice and they don’t know what is wrong. The master technician drove the car for a week and acknowledged there was as problem. He updated the ECU software, however this didn’t cure the problem. My girlfriend then paid the Nissan dealership to change the fuel filter and add injector cleaner to the tank. None of this has made any difference.

The dealership have contacted Nissan and they are saying that it may be something to do with the DPF, however There are no DPF or other warning lights on the dash and there are no error codes when the technician has run a diagnostic check.

Any ideas or thoughts greatly received!
