It will be the right part unlike euros and similar who seem to have no clue about sport models.

Just to add on the rear brakes make sure you align the pad dimples correctly with the calliper piston holes. They are rewind type. Definitely grease and clean the sliders too. I prefer silicone grease but red rubber ok too.

Well I’ve got it!

Drove well home, misses 6th very easily, can barely feel the distance from 4 & 6. Will investigate.

Everything else running wise is perfect (touch wood) and just cosmetic tarting up required, to the extent of not spending a fortune!

Discs and pads arrive tomorrow so I’ll try get round to them weekend if time allows.

Eye-balling some new tyres that aren’t run of the mill cheap MOT passers, but with the wheels in such a sorry state I’m debating getting a set of team dynamics for it after summer, so I’ll hold out for now!

I’ll have a play with it all this weekend, is there a way you can get digital speed/mpg up on the drivers console?

I’m in the club!

There is instant and average mpg in the trip menu. The average is over by about 15% so when you see 40+ don’t be too smug because it’s likely high 30s at best.

No option for digital speed.

Good going, glad it’s yours.

Discs and pads not too bad at all on mine, and no creaks or weeping anywhere, so it’s mainly cosmetic bits for me too. Thinking of returning the standard wheels for now, mainly to keep to a budget.

Insurance, tax and fuel costs should all come down for me, and dare I say it, it’s nice to sit a little higher and have a quieter exhaust note, plus DAB, Sat Nav…

What are you coming from Anh?

Im coming from a big old 5 series barge, its quite a change to be honest, but necessary! Insurance came down astronomically though!

I came from a GT86, so still a relatively cheap car to run.

So far the only long run I’ve done in the Swift was the 4hr drive back home from picking it up, but it was all very civil for a small hatchback.

Next week is new tyres all round and refurbished wheels. I’m hoping for something like the below pic, not that low though.

I got mine after an e60 545i.

People scoff when I say this but the swift is more comfortable, better ride etc.

It’s in no way a fast car but unless you are doing a lot of two + up roundabout linked dual carriageways it’s fast enough. I’d like the engine to be a bit keener to rev out but it’s a great package.

Looks nice, thats definitely lower than standard, springs or coil overs?

I think springs only - it’s a car that’s now sold, but was up for sale a month or two ago. I just hadn’t sold my GT86 by then to move on.

Thank god its not a Renault. Think I mentioned on FB I bought a Clio off them totally not as described and how it passed a MOT I've no idea. The warranty isnt worth the paper its on either

Took the scenic route home yesterday through a few villages, kept it within the law but pushed the corners and revved it out.
What a fantastic little motor! Even with questionable ditch finders on it currently it was nice and playful through some S like bends, even manage to have a snap of the tail with a bounce through elevation. Thrilled with it thus far!

Definitely feels at home being revved out and the gear changes feel so much more fluid when driven with some beans. Tootling along the gear changes do indeed feel quite mechanically weak and the bite point I just cannot get used to when I'm dawdling along.

Ordered the linkage bush to try fix the 6th gear difficulty in selection, should arrive Monday so its a next weekend job!

Put a quote in for some alloy wheel refurbishment with a colour change to anthracite (like some stock wheels seem to be) and ill see what the prices come back at. If there isnt much in it, some pro-race LT's with 215/45s might be in order biggrin

Don’t put 215 on you’ll ruin the feel.

I back to back a 205 Goodyear shod one with a Continental 215 and the 215 feels noticeably clumsy.

If we had smooth roads and a better choice of makes I’d stick with 195/45 but 205 is a great compromise if you are sticking with the standard wheels.

There is a reason a lot of people drop to 15s, it’s too much for me aesthetically and also for the speedo but don’t go to 215 whatever you do.

They are fun, aren’t they? I haven’t had the chance to push mine on any twisties yet, but once the wheels and tyres are sorted by the middle of next week I will.

Initial thoughts are that it reminds me of my old Panda 100HP, but more capable, and can also be not quite a cruiser, but very refined for such a little thing.

That was only if I jumped onto the new wheel size tricky, theyre 7j - so following the logic of people going 205s on the standard, 215 was the exact same with the slightly wider wheel

It affects the gearing to a noticeable degree on 215/45, dulls the acceleration, and adds weight. Just the tyre is 2.5kg heavier going 195 to 215 (both continental). It’s a lot of unstrung weight you don’t need to be adding.

There are no benefits going to 215 is what I’m saying.

I like dipping back into this thread from time to time and seeing what people are up to with these cars. They don't look like much to most people and even alot that know what they are seem to dismiss them for being underpowered and having no low down torque. But for me, it was such a great car to own.

I bought a very late 67 plate car at just over 3 years old with about 14.5K miles and full dealer service history for £9K. I kept it for about 2 years and put another 35K'ish miles on it. I part exchanged it for my GR86 when I got that. I thought about keeping it, but with other commitments and being offered £8K for it, I decided to just stick to only one car. I do regret this, as it was such a joy to drive on A, B and country roads. I love naturally aspirated cars that you have to work / rev out to get the full potential out of them and the ZC32S for UK roads and semi sensible speeds, was such a fun car to drive. It is my favourite junior hot hatch and had great old school charm in an era where smaller turbocharged engines are the norm.

I think that a fwd ZC32S and rwd GR86 would be a great combination to have.

I looked on the MOT checker for my old car, but it doesn't exist any more frown. So I'm not sure if it could of just had a plate change, or been written off? If anyone knows what happened to ML67OWX, it would be good to know.

Anyway, I just wanted to say this and hope that the new owners posting above get as much enjoyment out of their cars as i did out of mine. beer

It hasn't disappeared... Just a new plate...



Keep an eye on this thread but I feel out of place as I have a ZC31s which seems to be the forgotten Swift Sport these days.
