Thanks Dan- ceratec on order. It had an oil change fairly recently, but I'll check the grade and maybe try something a touch thicker.

Also, doesn't that LMB touring up the page look great.

Hope the leaks are a thing of the past, easy_ or at least after the final gasket on the manifold!

No worries; hopefully it'll work for you as well.

The N52 in my 130i has covered 144k miles now, so the thicker grade oil and Ceratec will do it no harm at all smile

It's in for a full 'top engine refresh' on 12th Dec with my pals; new rocker cover/gaskets/oil filter housing & cooler gaskets as well as tensioner, pulley and belt etc... Future proofing it for my ownership

I had my aux belt/tensioner replaced last month as the belt was riding pretty much on the edge of the tensioner. While topping up my screenwash I noticed wear on one edge of the new belt, but not along its whole length. There is no obvious rubbing and the old belt had no wear on its edges

It's going back to the indy in a couple of days so fingers crossed I haven't a chipped pulley.

It's an N53, black plastic engine cover with no hump for the valvetronic motor.

What a spec! Looks very well cared for also. Just a manual 'box short of greatness...

10k seems a lot but the history and spec are second to none.

Naldrett, your old car is on 222k now. smile

10k is strong money but it’s a rare example. I wouldn’t want original injectors though being an N53.

This. It's like the worst of the pre/post LCI mix. Pre-LCI looks and an N53 hehe

Seems to list both burr walnut trim and alu trim as well confused

I was thinking the same things plus it's an Auto., but 330i Tourings do seem to be few and far between.

My Saloon might be a pre LCI, but it's manual and I deliberately only looked at early ones with the N52. smile

Currently have my mate's 189000 mile 330i outside the house. It's not exactly the best example. I've been for a couple of little drives and it is still surprisingly good even though it has a long list of niggles.
My mate bailed on this at WBAC for 500 quid.

Hi All,

My 2005 E90 330i (N52) is not starting due to low coolant. When I press the ignition, I hear some whoosing sounds from the coolant reservoir - I am assuming a certain amount of coolant must be present before the car will start?

When it first failed to start a week or so ago, I topped up with about 800ml and the car started and ran fine. I then parked up the car up and have been on holiday for a week and half and it failed to start again making the same noises. I will add some more water tomorrow morning and I am sure it will start.

There are no fault codes, no smoke from exhaust, no obvious leaks that I can tell. Apart from a single orange 'low coolant' warning about two weeks ago I do not have anything to go on about what might be causing the issue. Any ideas?

I didn't know low coolant level would stop them from starting!

You say there are no obvious leaks, but did you look when it was up to temperature with some pressure in the cooling system? It isn't unknown for the reservoir to split but only leak under pressure.

OK another update...

I checked the coolant level and it was normal. So something else is preventing the car from starting. I have made a short video below to show what happens when I press the start button. Note: battery voltage is normal (12.4) volts, and there are no fault codes on my creator c310. I am puzzled as to what it could be?

Starter motor failure is common on the N52.
