Not today, but wednesday last week some arse decided to drive into the back of me on the motorway, very gentle hit, in slow moving stop start traffic, but its still going to be a job of work to put right. No damage to the main longitudinal rails, just pushed the bumper out of shape, and moved the boot latch forward around 5mm or so.

Presumably it will need a new 'carrier' crash beam, shock absorbers etc.
Bumper almost looks good to go again, after what will be its third blow over in 8 months.
That's a real shame. redface

My 2005 E90 330i had a smaller tap than that in 2023 and only needed a bumper cover. I claimed against the insurer of the other driver and they made my car a Cat N, but I did get to keep it thankfully.

If you do get insurers involved it is likely to suffer a similar fate sadly so don't let it out of your possession, unless you are certain you don't want to keep it!

I suppose damaged like that on an E46 would write it off if going through insurance.

Yeah, I dont know what the repair is going to cost yet, and i dont really know what the insurance would value the car at.
However given the offending car drove off anyway, its just going to be me paying cash for the repair either way up its not leaving.
Almost certainly at the same place that did the subframe and cills work and repainted the car etc over last winter.

Currently its at another garage having a new front ABS sensor fitted, because that failed and was booked in before the rear end shunt.

Might get the towbar I bought five years ago fitted while its all in bits.

Just finished putting the wheel spacers on my F11
12mm on the front, 15mm on the rear and ther is tonnes of space under the back, could probably go 20/25mm if you wanted.

BMW removing the lip under the rear arches is one of the best things ever.

Headlights have polished up well!

They have found a small issue with the driver's side, apparently the main beam isn't that well attached to the rest of the unit, to be expected with 10+ year old Chinesium headlights I guess.

Will see how we get on, next step is new headlights as suggested.
How much would you be looking at for second hand OEM units?
Apologies chap, saw your response and forgot to reply - however from the various 1 Series groups I'm in on FB there looks to be genuine Xenons available from about £300, which is a bit cheaper than last time I was looking. Not sure on the fitting side, and presumably halogens would be even cheaper.

Me mate has done a cracking job with these aftermarket ones tho - still not perfect, but 100x better. He's polished up the lenses and fitted some Osram Nightbreakers and I can actually see in the dark again, which is useful. Add in the new number plate and the front end looks far better.

CarPlay and a reversing camera up and running in my 2014 F06. Both working much better than I expected. DroidUK if you’re interested.

Had a little issue post fitting. I had to wait nearly ten minutes for a reply which sorted it. bow

Replaced the passenger side headlight washer, as obviously it had to start leaking just after I replaced the drivers side biggrin

Replaced the foglight bulbs whilst the front bumper was off (Osram Cool Blue Intense - had them in the garage so may as well use them)

And fitted a front upper strut brace hehe

Shame you didn't have the tow-bar fitted when it happened!

I'm surprised E8* Xenons can be bought for as little as £300 - someone on z4forum was selling one for £600. But I suppose they are much rarer cars.

However it works out I hope you get a decent outcome. thumbup

Another small update for me.

Replaced the HVAC control buttons. Mine had the typical F10 wear and most had lost their pictures.
Replaced with a set from eBay for a whole £12.

Fit was average and they don't look 100% perfect, but a replacement set from BMW are £70.

Think the 1 series rear suspension is very similar to the E9X; I will be looking to do a rear refresh on my E92 soon as it's feeling a bit loose when pushing out of corners and over bumpy ground (110k mls).

Am I right in thinking the 3 top arms plus drop links/ARB bushes and dampers would be a decent improvement? Lower arms seem to include press fit bushes which I'd like to avoid for now as The Man will be fitting these bits and I imagine it will blow out labour cost. Could do them later with a subframe refresh if required.

Replace all the arms in one piece rather than just doing the bushes; can soon source them all via Autodoc using RealOEM for the part numbers etc

Exactly what I did on our F31 and what I'm doing on my E81

That's why I've got it all now; my pals can build the coilovers up on the bench and then fit a corner at a time etc

Here you go.
Excuse the filthy car haha

The front right sticks out a bit more than the left which is odd too

/\ it now needs lowering as the spacers make the arch gap look even bigger!

The different poke left to right will be because of uneven camber. The F platform is notorious for it, as was the MK5 Golf, Honda S2000 etc.

Yeah it might get lowered at some point.
The front right almost looks like it has positive camber, so need to look into that a bit.
