Are you doing the manifold off way (recommended) - more room and easier to see where everything goes, and it’ll allow you to replace perished vac lines.

Get Elring intake mani gaskets, c£30 IIRC

Leaving it up to the garage to sort out, I dont want to break anything and they can order whatever other bits are needed.

My E36 318is has passed it's MOT!!!!

Been in my garage since I bought it and drove it 400 miles home from Aberdeen a year ago.

Just needed the headlights adjusting for the pass.

Advisories for some signs of corrosion on brake pipes.

Hopefully back on the road in a week or so.

I did a foolish thing last night and decided to do what should have been a Saturday job after I got my lad to bed.

Replaced the plastic rocker cover on my f11 530d which had begun to leak at the back - common issue apparently.

I decided not to go genuine and purchased a Febi cover instead - £125 from ebay after discount.

Thankfully all the injectors were kind and came out easily, bar a few copper crush washers that decided they wanted to stay in the head.
They went back in coated in ceramic grease for the next time I need to take them out - hopefully not for a rocker cover.

Rolled into bed at 1.30am - large amount of caffeine required today.
Brave!

I've done it before and the injector gods were kind.

I've got to do it on another car, chose a nice weekend... injector #6 is stuck solid.

First wash for the Z4 after getting it back from the bodyshop after my now ex-neighbour reversed into the front of it.

Also took the opportunity to to ditch the number plate plinth.

  • Yesterday **
Nextbase 422GW front and rear cameras installed

Cables hidden in the door seals and roof lining; I've connected it to the 12v extension for now as couldn't figure out which fuse to use for the hardwire. But, the gap to the front fuse box is so small, I could hardly get my slab-like hands in there to remove anything anyway! It'll do connected as it is for now, it's neat and the wires are well hidden

  • Today **
Hoping to get the front seats removed and give the car a through, in=depth clean and give the carpets a good going over with AGs Interior Shampoo with a brush drill attachment etc...

Tyres ordered via Camskill

It was a toss up between Goodyear Assym6s, Conti SportContact 7s and Michelin PS4S's; I've gone with the latter

£125 each in 235/40/18 sizes, with £60 cash back too; only a few quid more expensive than the other 2 but neither had cashback; and I know the PS4S's get rave reviews (my pal loved them on his M5)

Hopefully will get the Protrack One alloys ordered sometime this week too and I'll take them to my pal to get the tyres mounted/balanced etc and he can refurb the single 18" 405M off the F31 that my wife managed to kerb... rolleyes

I thought they had stopped making them a figured they would be getting hard to find, or have they continued making the PS4S after phasing out the PS4?

The Pilot Sport S 5 is only available in 19 inch and above at this point, so I assume the 4S is still made in smaller sizes.

Isn't the Pilot Sport S5 only made in OEM sizes currently? I was able to find them in my size, however they were MO-rated

If it's not too late, get them to replace the plastic coolant tube under the inlet manifold - it goes from the water pump area to the back of the engine and heater hoses.

I'm assuming it's an M54.

Today I fixed a very poorly fitting fuel filler cap on my Z4. Was a bit scary firing up the heat gun enough to get the plastic a little soft so that I could mould it to the correct shape - how this was seen as acceptable for a AUC I don’t know. I had read somewhere that this is just what the dealers do in this scenario so gave it a go.

Was stupid on Thursday. Kissed a wall getting into the tight work entrance (oor er) from an acute angle.

Did my best today to remedy my mistake

Before:

After:

Applied acetone to remove the wall paint and then used T Cut Ultimate Compound followed by Meguiar's Scratch X followed by AG Super Resin Polish

Yes, it could do with a bit of paint where it has gone really deep so will probably buy a paint stick (any suggestions for sources?) but for the time being I'm very happy with the result.
