BMW 318is 1994 Starting problems

Ive had my 318is for about a year and over the last couple of months starting it has got worse its ok if the engine is cold but as soon as it warms up it wont start it sounds as though the starter motor is just spinning is this a common probem? if it is is it easy enough to do.

Are you letting the car warm up properly?

The only reason I ask is that with catalysed cars, they get confused if started, moved a little on a v short journey, and then turned off- causes them to flood the enxt time you try to start them.
