There is an argument that the 2.0 diesel is all you need, it is a remarkable engine.
Id happily make the argument. I’ve had an F11 530d which was an amazing thing but this does just fine. It’s whether you’re happy with ‘just fine’ I guess. Mine seems to have a flat spot up to about 1800rpm which is irksome mind.. McGee_22 said:

Looks lovely Dan, but several 530's and now a 540 begs the obvious question about your E39 love - when are you going to jump into you billy big boy pants
I like to justify my spending and having a c£25k car sat on the drive, doing maybe 4k miles a year, is a waste of money IMO and I'd rather get the mortgage paid off in the next 2 years; that's the priority really!
I was sorely tempted by an E60 M5 via the M3 Cutters forum, but even though it's had all the major work done, the bork factor still scared me

Looks great that Dan.
Was it the one in Lancs that had been for sale a little while?
It was pal; from ManchesterWas it the one in Lancs that had been for sale a little while?
In all honesty the asking prices he wanted for that and the Jap import E38 740i were too high
I gave him the price I was prepared to pay and was also fine to walk away; I started to get into the car for him to drop me off at the train station... Then the deal was agreed

(Very) occasional poster on the wider forum, first post in the Bimmer section. Moved house earlier this year, offers me a garage space. Didn’t wast too much time, bought this beaut from a garage in W Sussex. 2005 325i MSport manual, completely standard and original. 1 careful lady owner, book of invoices that’d choke a horse, 100k miles and drives like 40k. Paid top dollar for it I’m afraid but, as I am less than competent with a spanner, buying for a couple of Gs less with accompanying issues doesn’t really strike me as value.
The Range Rover hasn’t turned a wheel since I got it (don’t tell the classic car insurance people!), the only issue so far was driving the 8 hours back home with the roof down the whole way I burnt me nut!
