I have mentioned before about tram lining, does anyone have an idea what is the optimum tyre pressure with 225 45 on 17 inch rims which lessens the efect of tram lining as tyre pressure seems to effect it?

It's more to do with tread pattern and geometry than tyre pressure - get it 4 wheel aligned will provide a more last solution as it sounds like your front toe-out might be off.

Dealer aligned mine the other week, and now it's all over the place on bad surfaces, whereas previously tramlines were un-noticeable. So, it'll be going back to it's previous toe-out settings.

I had an E46 330D Touring and had issues with the precision of the steering, or lack of it. After some experimentation, I found 40 psi front and 45 rear the best balance (Goodyear F1's). Given that there's a range of 'correct' pressure it's worth trying out imho.
