Well, it was fitted today. Excellent experience all round; Birds were polite and efficient. They even let me plug a cable into their network so i could use my laptop. Top marks.

I can't report much about the driving experience as i basically drove back on the motorway. However, when i got home, i went to get the trailer out. Bear in mind its down a muddy track with random gravel patches. The other day I got stuck there, took the trailer off, and still couldn't move, having to roll back onto gravel to get started. Today I hooked up the trailer.....and pulled away normally, and whistled up there like it wasn't even attached smile

Then reversing up my driveway, tarmac but with patches where its loose gravel and stones (you know how tarmac goes....). Usually i get half way up and then spin one wheel for the next metre or so. Today...not a peep, it just dug in and went smile

Grip where there once was none. So in trailering terms i am very happy; this has indeed been a success, its cheaper than buying another car, and i get to keep the car i like.

To be honest its how the car ought to be; BMW should put these on all of their cars.

I'll report back on the day-to-day feel of it in a day or two. Hopefully it will rain wink

Andy

p.s. worth mentioning i got them to drive it around the block and tell me what they think of how it drives, and poke around underneath with the focus on bushes and suspension. They gave it a clean bill of health and recommended that i need purchase nothing. Not bad for a 130,000 miler eh? Looks like the guy wasn't lying when he said it was mostly motorway miles (I bought it 18 months ago with 115k on the clock)

I must be a girl because my cars apparent lack of an LSD is not something thats ever troubled me. I suspect you could swap my diff for an LSD in the middle of the night without telling me and I'd not notice.
