I have no affiliation with Surrey Customs but figured it was only right to give them a public pat on the back and a huge thank you for pulling out all the stops in getting my bike painted in time and having to work late into the night.

Having met Gary at the Excel show on the Kawazaki stand and subsequently booked the paint work though Kawazaki Colchester he has been at the end of a text message keeping me in the loop with progress and pushing to get the parts painted and delivered back in time for the weekend.

So in short many thanks Surrey Customs, im very much looking forward to getting my new Akashi 900 RS

I'm confused. The bike in the pick clearly states it's a one off and won't be replicated.

Are they replicating it for you after they said they wouldn't or is the bike in the pic your actual bike in which case why are you waiting for it to be painted when it already is ????

Very nice bike either way.

Yes im having one painted.

The show bike apparently has a few extra markings on the tank that wont replicated but apart from that its identical

Having had ceramic coating on my bikes and cars, I wouldn't really bother if it is scratch protection you are after. Better to get it PPF'd if you want to protect it from scratches on the potential contact points. The round tank shape, however, won't enable complete seamless PPF coverage.

OP - great choice of paint. It was certainly a looker at the bike show!

Just in case you are giving them instructions as to what to put on the petrol tank, it's Kawasaki, not Kawazaki. wink

Nice bike though.

That, OP, is absolutely bloody lovely. And it's not often I say that. I could be massively tempted by one of those if I had the space for it!

Cheers guys i fell for the colour scheme as soon as a clapped eyes on it.

There have been a few on the FB forums slating the colour saying its Honda not Kawazaki but im sure i spotted a post saying it was one of the original early 70's colours.

Im not fussed anyhow as i love it and its going nowhere.....hopefully !

But as you say it is not suitable nor does it come with the insurance that in the event of damage it will be repaired free of charge which the MotoGP branded product does come with. I have put it on every custom paint I have had and it has been brilliant and given the cost of rectifying say bird lime damage on a proper custom job like that well worth the investment.

If it is damage from bird lime that is the concern, I think it has higher chance of getting stolen if left out in the open before a bird craps on the tank...

The biggest risk for tanks imho is from errant scratches from zips/keys/etc and ceramic coat will do nothing to protect against those

Who know how it all pans out but I’m insuring it above the paint cost above standard bike price .

I’ll not be leaving it unattended much either , it’s stunning !!
