Cool! I had no idea that Murray Walker was a biker!
Murray was a diehard biker.

His dad (Graham) won at least one TT and was a works Rudge and Sunbeam rider in the late 1920s and into the thirties. Murray and his dad began commentating on the TT for the radio in the fifties and sixties before Murray went on to car GP commentary. Murray himself won an ISDT (I think, or one of the big trials) and wanted to be a racer but realised he was never going to be as quick as his dad!

He was also a tank commander in the second world war I learned recently.

Generally nice chap I think smile

Do you know what bikes he favoured for road use?

His helmet in that video has a BMW roundel on the back.

I know he had a BMW - think it was an R90S but not sure what else he had!

Another useless bit of info is that his dad raced Rudges in the very early 1930s and another Rudge team was run by one Enzo Ferrari smile

There's a pretty well-known photograph of a 7 year-old Murray standing next to his dad and the Rudge at the end of the 1932 Lightweight (250) TT in which Graham finished second.

EDIT. And when he was born his family lived in Hall Green, about half a mile from the Velocette factory.

Old Italian bikes dwarfed by my neighbour's huuuuuge new Triumph adventure bike. He has no garage so I have agreed he can store his bike in mine.

Im pretty sure I saw a piece with Murray at home where he had a collection of Agostini’s bikes and an MV F4 Ago. I think he also owned most of his fathers tt racers or replicas thereof.

Very magnanimous of you! Hope he’s left the keys.

The bike is way too big and heavy for a feeble old git like me.
