As a Harley Davidson rider, I believe its my divine duty to provide a musical note that all pedestrians and others can stop, look and listen to.....

Personally, mine would wake the dead..... just the way it should be. My worst nightmare would be an electric bike

Bright lights and as quiet as possible is my latest preferred option.

I don't think this is going to go the way you want.

Can I come over to your place and rev my engine all day Sunday next to your garden ?

There is a massive need to crack down on the noise M'Bikes make, they are anti social at the levels we are hearing these days.

Exceed the Db level ? have the Police take it off the road until fixed, fine and points issued.

I like a good sounding bike, I don’t like obnoxiously loud bikes they just give us all a bad name and will surely end up causing bike noise being regulated which will ruin it for everyone who likes aftermarket exhausts.

I mean no offence to anyone on here that a very loud exhaust but I feel pretty strongly about overly loud cars and bikes because in my opinion they are hugely selfish and force people to listen to them out and about or in their homes.

The other element to this is they draw the attention of the police and also provide a perfect reason to pull you over if they wish to do so. Interesting thought, can you get a section 59 for very loud exhausts?

Can't stand noisy bikes, be it tts on sportsbikes or saddo's on customs, they are fking annoying, I live near a popular biking route and all you hear is the scream of bikes all weekend in summer, its antisocial and tttish behaviour that will eventually end up with legislation being forced on us to stop us modifying our bikes, I used to have a few noisy bikes, then I grew up and stopped being a .

Sounding nice doesn’t have to be mega loud, there’s a balance.

A bit more sound than a muted standard bike is great ....any bike without the baffles in the exhaust is just silly....sending you deaf whilst alerting the camera van/Police you are on the way from a mile out.

I'd rather listen to a washing machine full of spanners than a loud Harley, but you do you. Actually, would I be able to tell the difference?

‘Everybody’s looking at me, aren’t I kool?’ is presumably the thought of that solitary brain cell.

I like loud bikes and cars, always crane my neck whenever I hear something loud, whether it's a big V12 Lambo, a four cylinder hot hatch or a ridiculous v-twin. Fortunately however, I don't live near a busy road. Mostly I hate seagulls.

My old bike was loud and my current bike is quiet. Wish my current bike was loud but too busy spending my spare cash on other daft ste at the minute, not exhausts. Maybe one day soon...

Only recently kept a legal bike for the first time in decades.

Got heartily sick of the drone on a long run and am slowly going fking deef.

Loud pipes are a pain in the hoop.

Yep that sums it up.

On the subject of HD riders...why is it that they never give other riders a nod or wave? Too aloof? Too proud? Or just self conscious because they believe other bikers think they are s?

I like a nice sounding exhaust but HDs just too noisy.

Just not true about Harley riders though is it ?

They are as likely to nod/wave as any other biker.

Most bikes I hear just make a racket, not a good noise at all

It’s a no from me in regards to obnoxiously loud. I agree with the statement above re baffles, no bike should be running around without them really. There’s stock, theirs fruity, then there’s just plain obnoxious. Anything in moderation but shaking the ground, although almost uniquely a Harley thing has probably had it’s day. No doubt sales are reflecting that so HD are ironically turning to silent electric!

It’s the same for obnoxiously bright lights/main beams which is even more annoying and dazzling oncoming drivers isn’t sensible, please stop, it’s selfish, unnecessary and dangerous.

There is a young lad who lives on the estate down the road from me that rides some sort of 50cc scooter with a “loud” or no exhaust and drives it full revs all the time.He works varied shifts, how do I know? Because he wakes me every morning. Didn’t hear him the other morning, the first thing the wife said when she got up was “wonder if scooter boy is ok?😀”.

To be honest it doesn’t bother me too much, I’ve sort of got used to it. I’ve got big bikes and a few smaller ones including a Monkey with a straight through Yoshimura so not exactly innocent.

Blunt, scratchchin .... but accurate

I'd also add fking selfish, fking inconsiderate and fking rude.

We already have a thread running highlighting that bikes with legal noise levels are being banned from certain roads and this gets posted! rolleyes
