A picture a day...biker banter (Vol 6)
Discussion
I use our little 660cc Subaru 4WD Kei farm-truck (It even has a tipper bed!) to carry bikes short distances,
or a bike tote carrier on the back of our camper, when we travel and I want to have some fun on mountain roads, whilst my wife does the driving.
Kei trucks are dirt cheap, here in Japan.
I'd hate if a bike accidentally fell over and damaged a panel, or window.

I am loving that crud guard for the rear shock and spring.
That's partly why I got this version (EXC), it doesn't have a linkage on the shock, so more ground clearance. The crud guard is OEM, and certainly helps keep the shock clean.AceOfHearts said:

Instead of using a pick-up to collect a bike, I decided to use a bike to collect a pick up in London
Ramps on the back of my 990

Whilst it's a good truck it's shown me how good my Vito is.
Anyone want to buy a pick up ?

What sort of truck is that? Well done getting the ramps on the KTM Ramps on the back of my 990

Headed to sunny hunny to finish off the majority of running in of the Speed Triple today...had to go via the dealers as it had "transmission failure" , quickshifer had stopped working and the bike had gone into limp mode, dealer quickly diagnosed slack in the exhaust valve cable and had me on my way (have to try hard not to call it an EXUP valve...), no I cant see the link between an exaust valve and transmission failure either...
Fulled up an hour later and the bike couldnt "find" the key...having had similar before with an alarm on a petrol station forecourt many years ago, I pushed it off the forecourt and down the road a bit where it fired up straightaway...maybe an radio mast/antenna nearby or just coincidence..not sure yet.
Roads from Kings Lynn onwards where very busy but worth it for seaside chips and a double rum n raisin cone..
Now I can feed in some more revs and the tyres are nicely scrubbed in, I will have to twiddle with the suspension, its not like the demo bike I rode and is to harsh . for example, if your braking into a corner/roundabout and the bike hits a bump or such like, itll kick the rear wheel upwards and when it lands, you can feel the ABS pulsing through the pedal as the wheel has momentarily stopped spinning while its been in the air. Bumpy roads at 90+ have the bars skipping about but its not like the LC which is dancing all over the road at that speed, needing the lightest of touches to the pegs and bars as it all jostles about beneath you.
That aisde, its a riot to ride, the exhaust note and induction roar is very, very naughty , turns it so quickly, incredibly light , comfy, staggering brakes and I know itll wheelie like a b'std when I have it fully run in.

Certain I met you back at Brands a while back. You were packing up and I wondered over to look at how you were securing the bike in the back. Can’t remember the bike, embarrassingly enough, but there can’t be too many of those used to ferry bikes to UK TDs. Would have been mid-May IIRC. A vehicle like that sticks in the mind a bit!Tribal Chestnut said:

I have done Brands this year so it was most likely me
It was probably the CBR400 but might have been my old Ducati 748, I can't remember when I sold that now...
Another night at a biker meet with great roads getting there. Nice 85+ miles although still warm really noticing it getting dark early now
My Tuono is upto 18,600 miles now and definitely my favourite road bike. Think next year I'll look at the new shape though

Saw some lovely examples as usual - so many bikes turn up here

A RWD BT-50 which is the Mazda version of the Ford Ranger (also built by Mazda) it has the weirdest spec - manual windows manual locks and air conditioning
I did Google about carrying loads on a bike and it seems as long as you don't go overweight they are the same as a car

500 has sat for a few weeks so needed a good run out, fired up after a couple of kicks, apart from my spuds getting cooked, it was a fab ride, she tonks along very nicely indeed...
The Speed Triple has sat for 2 days and now has 3 warnings on the dash , service overdue(its not), engine check light and transmission fault...
I noticed the brake discs are rusty over the weekend and the dealer is replacing them under warranty.
Lots of owners reporting many & common build related problems with these on the Facebook page now...I think the RDs will be on the road long after the Triumph has met its maker.

Check the cables on the exhaust valve by your right heel. Heard they stretch and can cause these three faults The Speed Triple has sat for 2 days and now has 3 warnings on the dash , service overdue(its not), engine check light and transmission fault...

That RD is truly stunning
