I think the main issue is the dry clutch?

They all sound like that, my clutch rattles like a bag of spanners exept when it's in then it it hisses like some giant snake - just this afternoon my neighbour asked me what was wrong with my bike.....

Ah yes, I had forgotten about the clutch. The spanner sound is indded from the dry clutch, when it's not engaged. So yeah, that clutch rattle will still be there, unfortunately. But I hated the thrumming sound of the twins too, which everyone else seemed to like. At least that won't be there. I always enjoyed the deep bellow of my Kawasakis inline 4s, which changed to a high-pitched shriek at, ahem, significantly higher speeds. Hopefully the Ducati V4 will be closer to that.
