Heh, just replied to your post on BO wink (Welcome there BTW, but can't BELIEVE you are calling it dull coming from a TeDiuM!)

Nice bike, You'll want to keep an eye on the Reg/Reg, Rear Shock and Downpipes as they were only upgraded from the 2000 FiY Model smile

Delkevic do better replacement downpipes than Motad, failing that, There's a company called Gazelle that custom build them onto your bike for about £600.

If it helps, I'm 23 and I've owned a VFR for a year, sports bikes just don't do it for me, they seem like mere toys when you realised you can do 300 miles in one go on a VFR and still want more afterwards, afterall, just /how/ boring can a 105bhp v4 be?

Drop the forks 5mm through the yokes for a massive improvement in handling too, I bought mine with the mod already done and did wonder why people kept calling the bike a boat! smile

How much did you pay by the way? I love the black bikes, but they don't make 2000+ models in black, and I wanted the HISS and other upgrades wink

Enjoy!

Hi TL smile

The problem with the VFR is that it's the victim of its own success in my opinion. It does everything well and without fuss and it doesn't appear to be exceptional at anything except bullet-proof reliability. That all equates to a superb machine, but not a thrilling one.

The TeDiuM had character as do most big twins and it stood out from other bikes with it's strange looks. It also had great handling for its dimensions.

That said, 32k miles is a pretty poor lifespan. Even if the engine had held out, everything else was starting to get past its lifespan, so it's not all good.

I got the VFR for £2600 with 18k miles so that seems about right from a dealer. I did see cheaper ones but all had higher mileage.

My biggest dissapointment (and surprise) is how uncomfortable the VFR is. It's a harsh ride and the bars are too low. I'm sure both can be addressed, but I thought it'd be a more relaxed ride than it is.

Overall the VFR is the perfect bike for what I need, but it just needs a little fettling to get it right for me, plus I need to get used to it myself as it's wildly different to the TDM.

I wasn't too keen on it when I first got mine, but I'm starting to get used to it, I find it's a bit to wristy to be classified as a sports tourer.

Has someone cranked the rear preload all the way up or something? Ride quality on mine is pretty good, that being said, the rear shocks do get past their best after about 16k, the showa units aren't the best.

Preload was on hard all around when I first rode it, but I've wound it back last night. The front is now much better but the rear is still too stiff. I'll check tyre pressures thugh as that may be th problem.

I've had my first good dry ride on it tonight and the road holding is an impressive improvement over the TDM. It inspires confidence (like a CBR600) and it won't be long before the pegs find tarmac smile

Sure I'll warm to it once I've clocked up a few miles.
