Nice job
How many M/Amps is the drain?

I suggest you fill the delay unit with Silicone or Epoxy otherwise it will fail due to moisture getting in it

I couldn't get a stable reading, my meter flickers around the bottom of the scale even when shorted out. What I know is the flickering numbers were slightly higher when connected but this could be residual emf from other wires local to where I was measuring. I need a more accurate meter.

Good call on the waterproofing, there is an adjuster pot to alter the delay period so a solid proofing material may not be appropriate. I'll spray it with an electrical water repellent

Nice work Bobfather. Regarding the drain, I have a cut off switch fitted to the battery and always switch this off when the car is garaged. The battery is also hooked up to the battery conditioner. Just sayin'........

wink

Battery conditioner I have but I've always been nervous of 'cut off' switches, I don't want my Meta alarm to drop its memory as that would render the key fobs useless

As you mention, it is very likely not a problem
This is a real nice job, plus with that delay unit dimming out as it does...

I sent you a link to something here https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

You may have already seen it

Now I need to find a spare wire in the passenger door loom so that I can use it to feed a permanent +ve into there. I'm assuming there will be a usable permanent -ve somewhere on the existing loom

There should be a Purple/yellow wire going in there that does not seem to have a function.

If this purple/yellow wire is unconnected inside the door I'm planning to find it where it enters the footwell and cut it there so that I can use the door end of the wire to carry 12+ve into the door. All I need then is a usable -ve inside the door

Okay, I don't have an unconnected wire in the passenger door. What about using the mirror heater wires? I could find the feed wire in the footwell and wire that up to a permanent +ve. To be honest I'm not sure how to switch the mirror heaters on, does anyone know what powers the Chim/Griff mirror heaters?

If you can gain access to the door loom in the footwell, if all else fails you can choose and pull one door wire so far out through the loom into the footwell and still have its door end inside the door, now you can tightly tape a wire to that pulled through wire and then pull it all the way back into the door, a light smear of Fairy Liquid type soap or vaseline will make life easier in pulling the cables back through

Obviously you could remove the door loom to add cables but.....?????

There may be a timer relay wired liked this

Found this a while back at https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=11...

Cheers, I'll probably wait for better weather as I need to park outside to access the passenger side. I'll try to encourage another wire into the flexible trunking. If that fails I'll redesignate the mirror heater feed

I didn’t know that the mirrors were heated. If they are, what switches them on?

If you are to disable them the likelihood of ever wanting heated mirrors is very slim or in my case, anorexic!

A PH search suggests they come on for a period of around 5 mins every time the engine is started. As you say, I doubt I ever needed my mirrors heating

Been a long wait but I finally powered up the passenger side door lamp this morning. After much poking around I decided the easiest solution to the 12v feed was to bring an additional wire in through with the door loom. Easily accessed and an abundance of power sources to choose from in the passenger foot well

Cheers, it was done by Lee at TrimUnique. He has access to the official leather colours so it's a spot on match to my dash top. On this one he put wadding underneath the leather to thicken the rim
