There I was happily repacking my c v joint with grease having stripped them down and cleaned out the old grease. I noted and photographed the first one for reference to make sure the races and cages went back the same way until I got to the last one and noticed that the cage had been orientated the opposite way round to the others ie the cage chamfered edge was facing the axle and not the hub flange as the others. Looking up on the tinterweb this appears to be the correct way as it allows best articulation for the axle.

So what do I do, take apart the 3 others so the chamfered cage edge is constantly facing the axle or change the odd one so it faces the flange. Your advice is most welcomed. Ta

How long have they been the way they are? I'm guessing a long time in which case you are better of leaving them where they are as they will have worn in that config. so may cause issues if you change it. Most CV joints live behind front wheels where the articulation is huge. In a TVR they just move up and down a bit.

Cheers Steve.
Yes reckon that's the case. Certainly not changed since I've owned the car in 10+ years
