I have just re-read my original comments to you - a touch more aggressive than my normal style, so apologies.
Glad to hear you had a good look at it (although their choice of colur is not to my taste, the GT Cup AERO 8 in two-tone Blue and Silver is wicked by comparison) Hope you enjoyed the rest of the Motor Show.
Have Fun
Hey F&L, you don't need to apologise to me. Honesty's the thing on this website, just say what you feel. If you want to see aggressive comments go look in the Griff and Chimaera sections at the ongoing debate about which is better...
I wad flattered that we were allowed anywhere near the car at the motor show. All the other up-market stands wouldn't let us anywhere near their cars (apart from the TVRs). It is good to go - where else would I get to see an Aero 8 up close.
Hey, now if there's any Morgan owners willing to persuade me by taking me out for a run... I'll reciprocate by offering a ride in the Griff!
I've been pondering it over the last few days. As I drove home last night I had the following thought:
The world is a very silly place. Damaged oil tankers are dragged out to sea to break up and sink because a government lacks the courage to sacrifice a small part of its coastline to save a greater part. Mediocrity is now seen as the apex of human achievement. Politics is now so hopelessly bogged down in the "centre way" that no politician dare express an original or radical thought for fear of alienating the hypothetical middle England. Greater public and political debate seems to be expended on the fate of 500 or so small red mammals than on all those humans who use our buckling health and education systems.
On this basis, sod it, I'm going to have a very silly car. A little oasis of good people trying to make something different to a standard greater than what is simply acceptable. This might not make much sense to some, but it does to me. It will be my own subtle two fingers to the "middle way"...it also makes a very nice noise!
Wish me luck. Pictures to follow...

That "lady penelope pink" Aero 8 may well have been the one I had the pleasure of taking round Mallory park last week - it's Charlie Morgan's own.
I was stunned by how capable the car was - and in the wet too. Where the +8 was described earlier as not noticeably slower than the Elise, the Aero 8 was not noticeably slower than the Tuscan! And a damned sight steadier and more capable round the corners.
It's also a very refined car (if small) when you're inside it. If I weren't in love with my Tuscan I'd buy one and annoy a few porkers.

Sublime drive to work this morning. Roof down, sun shining, heater on. Listening to the V8 and the Julee Cruise version of "It's the end of the world as we know it..." and feeling slightly superior to all those "modern" cars.
V. pleased. Roll on Saturday when I should really get to open it up...please let it be dry...please let it be dry.....

Morgan suffer from their immense longevity. Owners of 1950 cars, freely give advice on 2002 models they have never sat in. In fact, the cars have changed immensely in every way outside the unchanging exhilaration these little cars produce. They are now made mostly of alloy, stainless steel on a calvanized frame. The traditional cars are warm and snug in the rain.
The largest resource for Morgans is found www.gomog.com . a huge site without adverts. For advice, you should probably join Emog Pub, an international internet discussion group with over 700 members and more than 1100 Morgans from trikes to racing Aeros. The members will help you source a car, check it out, maintain it, diagnose it and buy your a beer. Emog is at www.emog.com

Hi Beasty, just found the Morgan section on PistonHeads & hence the late addition to this thread. I have had a Morgan 4/4 ( 1800 Zetec)for 6 months now following a previous Elise & a couple of Caterhams....... I LOVE it !
For summer road use its great, especially now with all the increasing speed limits, it feels fast at 50 mph!
A well made car that is equally as interesting to drive as a Caterham but at a slower pace.
Your V8 will go somewhat faster than mine !
Cheers

I'd go for a V8 though if just for the burble and roar!
Malvern stopped making the +4 in 1997 so it was a "few" years old that new car he bought (when?). Probably looked new as the traditional cars (as we have to say now there is the Aero 8) have that timeless quality!
BTW the name Aero was originally adopted for the three wheeler sports versions, which still have astonishing power/weight and bhp/litre 50 years after the last one rolled off sorry out of the factory.
