Hi.
Can anyone identify this gearbox.
It’s been in my garage for over 25 years.
I know I removed it from my mgb, to fit a over-drive gearbox.
But when I look at pictures of a mgb gearbox, mines look different.

Thank you for your help.

Pretty sure that is a non-overdrive MGB box.

Hi lemsip.
Thank you for your reply.
Yes I’m hoping it is a non over-drive gearbox from a mgb.
I’m just a bit confused, because from other pictures of non overdrive gearboxes from mgb’s it looks different.
Haha I am getting a bit old.

I think it is a 3 synchro non overdrive MGB gearbox.

The four synchro non overdrive box looks different and maybe what you have seen.

Could the pictures you've seen be of later synchro 1st gear boxes and yours is an early non-synchro 1st?

Hi all, thank you for your replies.
I’m not sure if it is a three synchro gearbox.
It’s from a K reg 1972 mgb roadster .

The 3 synchro boxes were only on the very early MK1s, so wouldn't be a 72.

Yes that’s what I thought.
I’ve just looked on eBay. They have mgb gearboxes for sale.
And mines looks the same as a three synchro non overdrive gearbox.
Strange.

Unless it got swapped at some point. When I in the garage earlier I remembered my MGA gearbox is the same as a MGB box, but it is a bit buried at the moment. I may have a picture somewhere for comparison.

Thinking back 30 years.
I did swop a few things.
I converted a twin carb 1800cc Marina engine to a mgb engine spec.
And fitted that.
And then Swopped/fitted a over drive gearbox

If you do have a picture to compare. That would be great.
Thank you .

Extracting it from the garage was looking a bit complicated, instead hopefully this link will help.

http://mgaguru.com/mgtech/gearbox/gt101.htm

I think it looks like the 1600 MKII gearbox, but with a different remote change, which would fit with it being for an early B.

It looks just like a 3 synchro non over drive . Which were fitted to early mgb’s.
Although mines is K reg 1971/72 mgb.
It may have had the Gearbox swapped to a early type gearbox, before I had it.
I’ve had it in the garage over 25 years.
Haha I won’t be using it in the future.
So I’ll just put it up for sale.
Thank you Limslip, Scrump, and Niva441 for all your help.
