It would be awesome if Jaguar released a new XFR. I know they've tested the supercharged V8 in the current XF. I also know it absolutely destroyed it's suspension and subframe bushes, those were the only bits I worked on for D7a so I've no idea how the rest of the car handled the torque.
I imagine it deals with it in the same way the XF-S diesel variant does, which has more torque than the XFR.
I’m sure that extra 20nm makes a world of difference. It’s about time the current XF caught up with the old one in all aspects.
The diesel might have more torque on the engine side of the gear box, but not on the road side. Otherwise it would be able to out accelerate the R, which I don't think it does biggrin
They’ve managed to make it slower to 60 than the original XFS, that has less torque and more weight. Good effort. . hehe

Whatever the issues, it is still a great drive. Rumours of a corporate sale are continuing, and I reckon they will be desperate to shift cars. I would think that if you want one, now is the time to check with a few dealers, and see who has got what you want in stock. Forget about a factory order.

I was recently offered a 2018 F Type V6S (380) convertible, ex demonstrator, 5925 miles up, pretty near immaculate with some nice options for, in the end, £46,500, from a main dealer. I think that over the next few weeks there are going to be even better deals available, and those in a position to vulture purchase could pick up a nice car cheap.

Best of luck.

Not all doom and gloom. I was in Oxford Jag on Saturday. They’ve just had their best month ever.

Dealers always say that.

But the guy who told me also thinks the XE and new XF aren’t that good.

I can certainly recommend the F-Pace SVR which replaced my XFR last month - it’s a real “do anything” car. It drives like the XFR (or even better) but with all the practicality you could ever ask for - I have already been to the tip twice!

He’s not the only one designing the cars though.

This is the sort of car / performance I’d like to see from Jaguar:-

Yes but it has the lips of leslie ash. And their range is only getting uglier. I have a 4 series, having almost got a jaguar. I do like cars with a certain elegance, so I will revisit jaguar in 2 years time..

...just not the Derby or Nottingham dealerships

There’s a lot to say for the 340 but I have to agree with you about the grill/lips. eek

Maybe it’d look better in a darker colour so that grill doesn’t stand out so much?

The Jaguars look better to me but nowhere near the performance.

I got 10 seconds into that before I had to abort. That is one ugly car.

Anyone jumped straight from a 20 year old XJ into a facelifted XF?

I'd hire one for a long weekend before I decide to go for it but any real world long term driving and ownership experiences to add to the reviews? Anyone know what the best ride quality / sound system spec is?

Choice would be low miles, auto, petrol and not AWD. Budget open.

It looks much better in a darker colour.
