for premium Jags - or do I have it wrong?

Just bought a pristine 2000 model year XJR8 from a main Jaguar dealer (they took it from someone as part exchange for a new XK) for a shade over £10k. 52k miles. FJDSH. Incl 60k service and full 1 yr main dealer Jag warranty.

Book value for this with mileage adjustment seems around £10500 max.

Why then do the couple of major Jag independents (in the South - you know who they are) seek to charge £13k and above for the same sort of cars?

I looked long and hard and could not justify spending £12k+ at an indie without warranty when I could go private for £9-9500 and get a top up warranty myself. Lucky I picked up my car as soon as it arrived as the dealer was going to pass it on at trade to one of those guys. Ok so it takes longer to source privately but hey.

The story with XK8s and XKRs seems even worse. Have you seen what they want for high mileage XKRs?

Just because they fall outside the usual main delaer network should not mean the indies can charge main delaer premium (or does it?).

Curious to know others experiences.

Me, I'm over the moon.

very unusual for a main dealer to sell a 2000 year car, so there wouldnt be a comparison to be made between main dealer and specialist prices........as a rule 52 reg would be the oldest most Jag dealers would touch

The prep bills on those older Jags can be astronomical even if they're not putting a proper jag warranty on it. The margins tend to represent that.
