X-Type R Spotted - i think

Driving back from a trip along the A1 before Berwick I passed a rather strange sight which made me think. It was an X-Type Jaguar ,Dechromed,Think it had the 17" wheels may have been the other optional ones but this X-Type had a mesh grille. It is my experience that only R Spec Jaguars have Mesh Grills. This grill is either an option i dont know about as the car configurator for jaguar is no longer available or this is Jaguar Testing an X-Type R.

X Type R (which evo were expecting in mid '02 - never mind the accuracy, feel the shiny new paper
) was canned at the same time as the F type 
The sports are all dechromed and have 17" wheels and the mesh grille is a dealer option (via Arden)

x would be horrendous It sounds like a car similar to my X Type 3 litre sport Indianapolis with 18 inch R wheels and the XJ mesh grille. The sport is dechromed anyway.You can also buy it with the engine management upgrade to receive the R badging. This is now available from most dealers and does not have to be Arden.
