Hello all, i'm afraid im not much of a pistonhead but i do like to take care of my cars. My current runabout is a 57 plate seat leon fr, 2L TFSI and is a DSG. It's done just under 80k miles which i believe is fairly good for its age. It hasnt had a belt or water pump change yet, though the manual states every 80k so its probably due. It's just had its mot and passed with flying colours, and i spent a few hundred quid getting the gearbox oil and filter changed.

My question is, what else should i do to it? Is the cambelt and water pump a priority? I do like to put my foot down sometimes and i like my corners, are there any other items that will probably be detrimental to the ride by now? It is very crashy and hard on bumps but i assumed that was just this particular spec.

Appreciate any advice

Look up the mk5 golf gti buying guide as the drive train is the same and so all the same points are applicable.

Check with SEAT but with VW/Audi, the schedule is: >2009 = every 4 years. 2009> = every 5 years. Since SEAT use VW engines, assume the 4 year rule.

As for preventative maintenance - regular oil changes is the No.1 thing, period. Don't get hung up on brand, but do stick to VW 502 approved oil.
