New Polo lead times

Just paid a £500 deposit on:
Polo GTI in white + 18in wheels, space saver wheel, heated seats and reversing camera.
So now the wait begins! Lets just hope that 8/9 months to delivery turns out to be reality.
Though I do have the best part of a year till my current car has to go back. So "surely" even VW should be able to deliver in 12 months!?
Now the good news. I could not believe the deal (I jest not). This has got to be the first time that I've not felt screwed over buying a car.
48 month PCP at £262.62 / month. Zero cash from me (whoopie) and £6k equity in the current car (supposedly). Got this in writing from them.
All fixed until the new car turns up.
It's the equity in my current car that has me amazed. And I did query this and he confirmed it's correct.
Settlement on current finance as of today is around £16,500. So if there's supposedly £6k equity in my current car. Then this seems to imply it's worth to them (at this point in time) approx £22.5k as a PX!!! I have checked a few valuation sites O/L and this does appear to around the right ball mark. But this is CRAZY, I only paid around £27k for it some 2 years ago.
He said this equity just gets "carried forward" (his words) till I pick the car up in hopefully 8/9 months time. He seemed to imply that my current monthly payments between now and delivery of the new car, would cancel out the depreciation. This seems to imply that he reckons that my I30N will still be worth the best part of £20K to them as a PX come November time! I find this hard to believe.
Hey... maybe I should just "not look a gift horse in the mouth".
We live in interesting times.
This is exactly the same experience as I had. My Polo trade in had a surprising amount of equity in it. Happy days. Polo GTI in white + 18in wheels, space saver wheel, heated seats and reversing camera.

Just got a call to say that my cars have been built. Likely to be arrive ready for collection in first week of March. Will be on the new 22 plate.
That's good news That looks like just under 6 months for you. Wonder if it will be the same for the GTI version?I see that VW have dropped the deposit contribution on their PCP from £750 to £500. I wonder if my application got done in time to get the higher amount? Think I'll ask the dealer. Not too worried about it if they are going to hold £6k in equity from my current car.
Was after a facelift R-Line 110 manual to replace our similar 2019 model [for the family]. VW stopped manuals in 110 (only DSG), so gave up and went Audi A1.
Similar spec, similar price, so ordered a met. red/black roof S-Line 110 manual in November, anticipating a May'ish delivery. Apparently it's in build, so will see what the dealer date is.
Dashboard is so awkward and overall the car is not quite so pretty as the Polo, but nice seats and digi-dash/led lights (Polo would have been the same).
Will report back - probably in the Audi thread

Just another quick question... Is the new model still considered to be a MK6?
IE. Is it just really counted as a facelift.
Also noticed that you don't get a £50 Amazon voucher these days when you purchase a car via CARWOW!
Just got the option of some electric nonsense, or to plant a tree. So I went green and planted that tree.

Any further news yet?
In transit is all the dealership know. I have pencilled in 26th March for collection day to give myself a bit of leeway, but no guarantees they will have arrived by then.I saw my first facelift polo in the wild yesterday so they are coming through. Not big changes but overall I like the updates they have done
Spoke to my dealer last week and they said my build week had come forward to week 22 with a projected delivery of late August (previously Oct/Nov). Not confirmed, so could well swing the other way I suppose!
So not overly happy then to receive a letter from VW this morning, apologizing for build/delivery delays. Did not specifically mention any particular models. So just wondering if all folks with outstanding orders are getting the same letter? Anyone?

Just browsing and came across your post.I ordered a SEAT in February and have just received a letter regards further delays. They were citing the semi conductor shortage and crisis in Ukraine for further delays. So not overly happy then to receive a letter from VW this morning, apologizing for build/delivery delays. I know that the wiring harness issue in Ukraine has caused major delays for the group,so assuming this will also affect your order.

Yup I had a letter too, but it is quite generic. Polos are built in South Africa so you might have thought there would be more localised supply chains. So not overly happy then to receive a letter from VW this morning, apologizing for build/delivery delays. This is also something my dealer commented on (IE. that the SA factory is not as badly effected as the German ones). Whether he was just saying what I wanted to hear... who knows. It must be an absolute nightmare for car dealerships in general at the moment. It basically doesn't matter how good a product is... if you can't actually supply it.

I wonder why they stopped the manual in that version of the car? I ask because my MiL has a 70 reg 115 manual and it's a decent car now it's got a few thousand miles on it.... one is top of the list should my MK1 TT V6 become too much of a luxury!Lots of manual Polos on AT but I looks like the 5 speed 95 is more common.
I wonder if the current financial situation worldwide (IE. increasing inflation etc) will lead to a fair few folks canceling orders for new cars?
Or is there just to much pent up demand still?
With inflation in the UK looking to hit 7/8% this year, the fantastic increase in the cost of petrol, energy costs in general and general inflation soaring! It does make me wonder.
