Ever since I had my TVR (1994 Griff 500) I've had no reversing lights. Its not an MOT failure so never really bothered me, but today whilst I have the exhaust off investigating lack of speedo I thought I'd try and sort them.

There are two wires with female bullet connectors on dangling by the gearbox which when shorted light the reversing lights. However I can find no switch to connect these to on the gearbox. Where is it located and what type of connectors would it have ?

thanks

Hope this helps. The switch can be adjusted, and there is a locknut to secure it. Normally come with bullet connectors soldered on.

Certainly on the Wedge much easier from underneath with the zorst off. Just be careful with any adjustment, as the switch only needs to be as far in as is necessary for the plunger to be moved - too far in and the brass surround gets mashed, and the switch gets stuck on.

Here is some info : http://www.gomog.com/allmorgan/remoteissues.html

The switch and mechanism are accessable from underneath (right of the g/b) without removing the exhaust...

eta; switch is 13 in the drawing (got one for sale, as mine turned out completely different)

I'm sure it is. The only other gearbox used is the T5 and that has the switch on the other side.

Looks like an LT77 diagram to me with the switch on the offside. The later T5 switch is on the nearside.

Here is another view........

Definitely not a T5! Its an LT77 from the TVR workshop manual, circa 1986, way before they were using the T5.

No. The diagram is viewing from the top front, whilst the photo is viewing from the bottom rear. Switch is a faff to adjust but just be patient and adjust in bit by bit.

Had a go at fitting the switch - the adjustment it a bit hair trigger, and when the lever is in reverse there is a bit of play which allows the bolt moving the plate to slip off the side. the lights stay on if you hold the lever hard over.

Wasn't able to this with the engine running as the radiator is out. perhaps it will be more precise once the gears mesh properly, or perhaps the linkage needs some fettling ?
