Tyres were one of my first questions as firstly it's a great £500 bargaining chip, secondly I definitely want <10 year old rubber on it!
Fuel hoses are a good shout. I'll change them, as I'm guessing it's not hard to do.

I fully intend to enjoy it. I'll have a couple of months before the summer to fettle the bits I want to and the it'll be ready for the sun!
The fuel hoses are not easy to do unless you have access to a ramp.
At the rear of the car you have rubber hoses going from tank into pump then onto fuel filter then connecting to hard lines that extend along both bottom chassis rails then up and just above the gearbox, which is when it gets difficult.
Access is severely restricted and from above the gearbox they again become rubber and connect to the fuel rail then out of rail and back to tank via another hard line where it again becomes rubberised at the rear to go into boot and into tank.
Unless you enjoy such work a specialist is often best employed to replace them.
I have access to a ramp. And I have just bought the Steve Heath book. Should be okay.

Is a perfect original chassis on a 92 car with 50k miles entirely possible?

Instinctively I’d be worried about internal corrosion regardless of how good the outside looks.

It's a '96 car if you're referring to the silver one. It has already had the outriggers replaced, apparently.

They dont rot from inside out for there to be that kind of damp atmosphere for that to even happen the car would be an absolute shed

In one model year they had a bad batch of chassis that did just that!

Are we saying that an original chassis in good condition is nothing to worry about then?

Who knows! It's the luck of the draw.

That's an excellent power figure. What have you done to the engine?

Built by Rob Robertson 2011… new block (larger bore shorter stroke) x bolted, forged rods and pistons, high compression, bespoke cam, MS2, coil packs, extensive gas flowing, triple TB inlet, decat, bunch of other bits…. biggrin

Starting a Readers Cars thread, as I have actually found a car.
The continued conversation is interesting & I hope it continues the thread drift as it’s interesting to see what others are doing.

Thank you all for your help & contributions.
