Don't manifolds on pretty much all cars get cherry red at motorway speeds (saw a TV prog on this once)
Certainly noticed this on various cars of mine after a good thrash at night - if you stop with the engine running & pop the bonnet, the manifolds will be glowing nicely to themselves (only noticable at night, really)


yes when you drive hard they do glow, you should see a bench dyno operating the manifolds are red hot, and in the dark, they give the impression of a orange throbbing alien lighting up the room, but if red manifolds have been observed on a static car, there is something seriously wrong..
IMO the Griffith bonnet needs venting, as the heat is unable to escape properly, the only problem is that it could spoil the appearance.
