I can't open my Griffith boot....
Discussion
Assuming from previous responses you now can open your bootlid it sounds like you might have a weak or failed boot solenoid. These can be obtained very cheaply off eBay or for a little more from Racing Green. Solenoid is located on rear boot panel right of centre. Lift off the glued boot carpet section, release the wire pull cord from boot latch and unbolt solenoid from panel. Reassemble with new solenoid in reverse order and re-glue carpet. Terribly engineered but hey it’s TVR!
The boot release Solonoid is actually a geared motor but frequently fails as the dash board button can jam in the ON position.
A simple circuit will prevent the motor burning out even if the dash button jams on.:

Someone could have added it I did mine after locking my keys in the boot miles from anywhere,
I managed to open the boot with a fence stake and by levering carefully bent the lock bracket fortunately the bent lock bracket was the only damage.
Not wanting to risk it happening again a simple mod has it now sorted.

I have been reading these old posts after trying to open the boot on my Griffith this week - it has been sitting in the garage for a while. It makes the right thump noise and Power apppears to be going through the release motor but this is the first time in 30 years it has not responded to the usual pressing down the boot lid while someone presses the switch. Could someone please be very kind and PM me the "secret method" as I have not been able to work out what that is.
Thanks!
Thanks!
I don't know why it is "a secret"? Anyone one who wanted to break into the boot of a TVR surely would not fanny around with the time consuming secret way they would just wrench the boot lid open, there's only a little catch bonded into fibreglass holding it shut!
I know a few owners have run a cable from the boot catch to the void in the B post, much easier to access if you need to. The handle end does not need to be secured to anything

This thread started in 2009, unfortunately since then society has moved on. These days posting a "secret" way to get into the boot of certain TVRs on a public forum runs the risk of an "influencer" posting a video on TikTok showing just that - and the risk that that these videos then start trending with more "influencers" thinking it is a good game.
So, please do not post the answer on here. But if anyone would be kind enough to PM me, we could organise a FaceTime call so that I can prove that although I have only just joined Pistonheads I am a genuine TVR owner with a Griffith stuck in my garage lacking petrol and an MoT.

Thanks Mr.Grooler for attempting to PM me, I suspect sixor8 is correct that part of my membership is blocked for the first 14 days.
However, I have been able to email you and advice today from TVR 101 will hopefully solve my problem. Mine is an early pre-cat Griffith, 101 told me that it is different on later cars.
