Not for me. Very similar but there are differences

Fair enough - I’m not local so I won’t get the subtleties of the dialect but to me he sounds identical

Explains what all the Patreon funds were used for! hehe

I wish they would finish the Mini and then crack on with Escargo, I was really enjoying that build!

As soon as the revealed the MG, I put that into the ‘never going to happen’ category.

Compared to Binky, I’d have thought knocking up a spaceframe with no particular space constraints would be refreshingly simple smile Come to think of it, Binky would probably have been easier if they’d done the same, Z-cars style!

As I understand they are a monocoque, which restricts them to largely standard parts, which are going to be a serious challenge to find or make. That’s before they start on the interior

On the last video channel trailer '24 on one of the newest comments someone has posted a response from Nik and Richard about the delay.

It does sound like a new video might be on its way and they have not given up on the project.

My only fear is after all this time and anticipation, how interesting and entertaining can they make a video about fabricating a dash layout.

As someone who does really enjoy their content, hence the many posts on this thread, I think I get more irritated whenever I see one of their many excuses crop up, like in that YouTube comment.

It’s just sad that two grown adults can’t get a grip on how long it might actually take them to do something that they were, for a long time through patreon, getting paid for. This isn’t to say they should do it faster, I’m just saying it’s massively incompetent that they can’t more accurately gauge how long a task might take.

I guess I’m just a little jealous, if I repeatedly got timescales wrong in my job to that degree I’d have no job, regardless of what else was going on in my life hehe

I watched it with no sound and it certainly looked like his fingers/skinny arm.

I obviously got the wrong end of the stick; I thought they’d got a body shell, not a chassis.

IIRC the Qvale Mangusta had a sheet metal fabricated chassis, and non-load-bearing panels. I’d mis-remembered & thought “the boys” only had the carbon body. But I’ve now re-checked and they do indeed have a complete body-chassis assembly straight from the line.

Sincere apologies for the radio silence recently, we've both been working through some issues externally as well as a boat load of issues in the shed. I'm not going to pretend that those shed bound issues are not almost wholly self inflicted but that's as maybe.

In exciting and somewhat unexpected news, the bulk of the instruments are now finished and working. We (Nik) decided it would be fun and useful to explode the expensive new Link CAN gauge and try to incorporate it into the rev-counter. Can you imagine the arse that entailed? No, you can't. Two broken screens and a short-sharp lesson in SPI and ribbon cabling and a boat load of design, trial and mostly error - it's only bloody working! We had to swap the expensive REV counter for an expensive speedo, (which works in a similar way so can be used as a rev-counter) in order to give us the window to see the CAN display. The speedo uses the window to display the mileage and trip information.

Thanks to Ian Katz for the assistance in Arduino programming we have communication between the two and they do what's expected of them. It's very cool.

Only today we realised that we're not the same people as we were a year ago and a lot of the design that's baked into the board would be different if we started again now - but we're absolutely NOT doing that.

It's been a horrible experience at times as well as embarrassing and hugely costly. On the plus side - we're now nearly done - I know I've said that before and I've genuinely believed it every time only for the universe to decide otherwise and throw us under the bus. For our own sanity, this exercise in futility has to come to a successful conclusion, it HAS to.

Binky will be back, we refuse to submit to the universe's desire for us to pack it all in and if we do our job right, I think the result will be pretty bloody amazing.

Thanks to all of you who are still with us - you clearly have the patience of saints and it's impossible to overstate our appreciation.

Next time you hear from us will be Binky Episode 39; it's closer than you might think.

Cheers,

Nik and Richard

That was posted on their Patreon about a month ago. Even BOM appear staggered that the Patreons are still flinging money at a stalled project.

I think at this point everyone knows it’s never going to happen.

Now its just a case of how quickly we accept it.

For some reason Richard’s posts have started appearing it my Twitter feed. I think it was a link someone posted about his run for election. These days he seems most interested in buying American pick up trucks.

It’d been more fitting if a year ago they wrapped up the YouTube by moving it firmly into one of their personal cars finishing off the bits and thanking the audience.

Clearly they’ve lost the interest and love of posting videos and that’s fine but at least say goodbye properly.

It’s almost like they should record, edit and release like every other YouTuber not sit on content for 18 months ….. ah well we’ll never get to see all the dashboard stuff
