eBay Scrapping Private Seller Fees

Hmm apparently it can’t be opted out of, found this online feb 25 (below). It’s odd as I don’t get emails about offers, even though I can see the offers for items I’ve viewed on ebay when I go on the site itself.

Apparently it cannot be done. Here is what I found online.
Someone contacted Ebay customer service:
They were informed, these offers are called "seller initiated offers."
The only way to stop them is "to not view an item."
They requested info on how to register a complaint
Yes, they are effectively seller-initiated. As I said, when you as a seller send an offer or offers, you have the option to automatically send the same offer to future interested buyers. I don't select the option myself. But that will be the mechanism.>

But there’s clearly a difference between me and the people above that are getting actual emails with the offers. I get the offers, but no annoying email. So I must have something on my account which stops the offers being emailed, although I can’t see that setting. I’m guessing it is a setting from the past that is now not visible through the many changes they have made.

Ah right, with you now. I was focussed on the generation not the reception. eBay is all over the place today.
I just listed something for £64.99 and then viewed the listing and it initially showed the price as £64.99 and you didn't see the price with Buyer's Protection Fee until you tried to buy it. Then I refreshed the page and the price became £68.31, which is too high, but if you try to buy it you see the actual price is £67.76
This is just pants.
edit: Item just sold and the value of the sale is listed as £68.31
I kind of messed up here, because I listed the item for what I paid for it but offered free postage. So I have made a small loss. Oh well.

Ebay are still allowing me to list items and select my own postage.
For how long though?
I don't know, but I am finding that too. For how long though?
eBay seem to be constantly tinkering because when I created a listing; a few days ago it only gave me the option of Simple Delivery but if you changed the weight then at the bottom of the resulting drop-list was a link for traditional shipping.
However, today, there was a link called Advanced that short-cut that and unlocked normal shipping.
Having said that, on one of my listings today (a PC case) I found that choosing Simple Delivery and specifying "up to 15kg" gave a cost way less than I could get on my own, so I went with that. And I selected that the buyer should pay it (usually I do free shipping on my listings)
(Royal Mail Tracked 48 was coming out at £10.80 and Simple Delivery was £7.19, both for "up to 15kg")

Its all working out well for me.
The packlink postage prices are very competitive and the payouts are 2 days after a buyer receives the item
Except when the item seems to be received after about 5 or 6 pm in which case its 3 days
If a buyer leaves positive feedback shortly after receiving the goods the money is available then - dont have to wait 2 days
I can use packlink for postage and the costs come from my pending balances.
I've put a sort of rough guide together about the selling prices so I know how much e bay are going to charge the customer and am working well with that

Categories
Some stuff cannot be listed with simple delivery due to the category its in
Spent a pleasant 20 minutes with a very helpful woman on the phone yesterday who explained this and sure enough when I changed the category it was available to list with simple delivery 0- bit of an oddity but there it is
One thing I was not happy about is that I sold something Sunday and e bay thoughtfully charged me for the simple delivery label there and then which I actually didnt initiate until yesterday - Monday. You might think why does that make a difference ?
Well if I have something that was delivered yesterday let's say £100 and is due to be paid out tomorrow I can draw that £100 tomorrow But lets say somethings sell tonight and the delivery cost is £50 I wont bother getting the delivery labels until tomorrow. One simple reason is that buyers change their minds another is that I cant take it to a parcel shop until tomorrow. A third is that when you buy the label e bay mark it as dispatched which some buyers dont realise and miscalculate the delivery time
A fourth reason is that if I do that delivery label tonight that £50 cost comes out of my next payout of £100.
But I pay the money out tomorrow morning into my account and then do the label it comes out of the NEXT payout.
Or it did before they introduced this immediate label cost thingey
Oh well
Seems that is something they now do. Yet just last week it depended on me clicking to start the dispatch.
Someone above alludes to simple delivery costs and to be fair I am really quite pleased with them. It is however a bit swings and roundabouts
Updated :
Astonishingly I ahve just sold something now and it hasnt automatically rerserved the postage cost from my balance. Maybe they are just experimenting.
Oh and before someone makes the poiint I know that the amount coming out of my balance is only really like the old days when I had to purchase the postage cost myself. I just think if they are implemnting it then it can cause poroblems

Changes to postage rates and delivery options
Last month, we shared that Simple Delivery will be the only delivery option available for private sellers when listing eligible items. We’ve been listening to your feedback whilst rolling out this change, and are introducing a new parcel size option and new postage rates for Simple Delivery, which will come into effect on 20 May, 2025. We’re also working on bringing you even more of the features you’ve requested, and we’re adding a lower-cost option this month where buyers can collect their orders from Evri parcel shops.
New small parcel size option
After listening to your feedback about the services that matter most to you, we’re introducing ‘0-2kg small’ parcel size options to provide you with a lower price point. We recommend reviewing and amending your live listings that use small or medium parcels from 20 May, to make sure you’re offering your buyers the best prices. For example, if you have a 1-2kg medium parcel, you can change this to a 0-2kg small parcel if the dimensions fit. You’ll be able to amend this from your Active Listings or View Item page. To get the most competitive prices, consider enabling all couriers by going to postage preferences in your account settings.
A promotional postage rate
Until the new rate comes in, there’s a promotional rate for small and medium parcels (between 0-2kg) to match the Royal Mail pricing you’re used to. This only applies to items that are eligible for Simple Delivery, and will end at 11:59pm on 19 May. After this, the new postage rates will apply.

New collect from store option with Evri
To continue improving the Simple Delivery experience, we’re rolling out a collect from store option this month with Evri. This will be a cheaper, more convenient option for your buyers, where they can collect their items from the Evri parcel shop or locker of their choice, and save 15% or more on delivery costs.* If you’d like to offer this option to your buyers and have currently excluded Evri from your couriers, be sure to add them back in by going to your postage preferences.
Update your courier preferences
We know that it’s important in some cases for you to be able to choose your preferred courier. As a reminder, you can easily set your postage preferences from your account settings. Currently, Simple Delivery offers services from both Royal Mail and Evri. We recommend enabling all couriers for the most competitive postage rates.

I was looking for a small secondhand part for a car so was looking at the various sellers ‘breaking’ cars (Honda Jazz in this case) on ebay. I noticed that nearly all of them only have 30-100 feedbacks which is very strange, as you could clearly see from their listings they are proper breakers with various cars being broken. My conclusion is that business sellers like that are reregistering as new businesses (on ebay) every few months or whatever, or have multiple accounts to keep apparent profit low, presumably to avoid hmrc. I guess just register new businesses in a new family members name each time.
Simple Delivery - My ARSE !
Just tried to list a motorcycle seat - it weighs sub 5kg and measures 80cm
Every Simple Delivery option has the same maximum length of 61cm

I've spent 30 mins on the phone with a woman who tried every option to get around this but couldn't
I asked if there was an opt out - as there has been in the past for these (usual) f
k ups - No

There is a "Freight" button but it doesn't do anything
We tried in both the App and Onllne

That's category dependant - they've not thought this through at all or tested it!!Either on the App or the Online version
