See HMRC are now on at Ebay and others to disclose peoples makings for 2024
Not a business seller nothing to worry about.
Unless your turnover of anything sold privately is over £1000 in the tax year..
That is not right I've sold well over 1k's worth of stuff ive dug out of my loft and gararge.... Stuff I've had for years HMRC wont come after you for that.

If you are buying stuff each month to sell on for a proffit thats another matter ....

Changes to when you get paid beginning in February 2025

Starting 4 Feb 2025, eBay will typically make the sales proceeds of private sellers available in eBay balance after the order has been successfully delivered, unless subject to a hold. These are the criteria we'll use to determine when an item has been successfully delivered:

For tracked deliveries, funds will be available 2 calendar days after we receive confirmation from the tracked service that the delivery was successful
For local collection, funds will be available within 24 hours after you enter the 6-digit confirmation code the buyer received by email, or when the buyer scans the QR code
If the item includes Authenticity Guarantee, funds will be available within 24 hours after the item is successfully authenticated
For items sent via Global Shipping Programme, funds will be available within 24 hours after the item is delivered to the UK Shipping Centre
For untracked deliveries, or tracked deliveries when there is no delivery confirmation, funds will become available 14 calendar days from the order date
I've now changed all my higher value items to collection only the cheap stuff in my other account I'm not bothered about so will see how it works.

I've had a few asking me if I'll accept cash on collection - I never used to but now - fine by me
People coming to your house? Human interaction? Potential conflict? No thanks!

(Ok, I have actually had a few people come to my house over the years and they have all been lovely. But it's not something I would want to do often)
Do it all the time never had a problem yet 3 in last week !

My ebay sale update is now saying funds available 21 Feb but no time. I'd guess it might be from when Royal Mail confirmed delivery - I'll confirm tomorrow but at the moment, it looks like everything is as per Ebay said it would be.
Payments seem to drop in as late as they can possibly make it.

I think you’ll find it’s a ‘working day’ policy.

Saturday and Sunday are not working days and therefore you will see your funds on Monday.

Standard practice.
Well that’s not true at all, and the poster had already explained why the funds weren’t showing for them. Funds from one of my sales became available yesterday and I successfully withdrew them to my account. The money was there in 5 minutes. I don’t know why people feel the need to start making things up.
Yeah same for me I transferred 2 payments yesterday from 2 different eBay accounts and they hit my bank literally 2 minutes after.

Another little trap I fell into today.

Sold a microwave oven for collection only. Buyer paid eBay this morning and he collected it this afternoon. Great.

I go to mark the item as 'collected' but it won't let me. I need a 6 digit code from the buyer, and until I get one, eBay are keeping the money. If the buyer decides he CBA to send me the code it appears I'm screwed. Well done eBay.
It’s been like this for at least a couple of years.

As a seller I like the way it works as it provides proof that the buyer has collected the item.
But only if the buyer bothers to send you the magic number so you get paid. I wonder what happens to the money if they never do? Back to the buyer I suppose. It's a fraudster's charter.

I think eBay worked much better 15+ years ago. Now it's so complicated I can barely understand it.
I put on my collection only listings if they can’t provide a collection code they don’t get the item I also message them before to make it clear they will be going home empty handed if they forget …

iPhone scams are rife. I've been screwed out of £1549 by Amazon. Ordered a brand new 16 Pro Max 1TB but got sent a refurb one. Returned it using the Amazon supplied label. Shows as delivered but they claim I didn't put the iPhone in the package... they say I put something else in. Won't tell me what. After a lot of back and forth they just told me that the case is closed. So - no iPhone and no £1549. Seems someone at their returns processing has stolen it and claimed I didn't return it. Amazon don't care.
I don’t know the procedure but I’d be going straight to small claims court with that one, surely there must be some way of raising a case against amazon
I've heard horror stories about people doing this and Amazon banning them for life I know it's sad but I for one would really miss the services frown

I’ll be leaving a few collection only items on my main account but will be cancelling all my other listings on my other accounts at least for a few weeks to see how it goes.

If it’s a st show I’ll call it a day.

One thing I have notice and this is off topic the 4 Lego sets I have listed have between them had one view in 2 weeks which is something I have never encountered before. The last month these sets were listed they had 15 to 20 views and a couple of watchers each by this time.

On a more positive note in the last week I have sold 2 sets on dedicated Lego groups on FB so nice one eBay you've done yourself out of £30 in buyer protection fees.

I read the message and it said you get a QR code and an address label to print. I've been doing that for years, what's new?
You now pay for the postage out of your ebay funds and simple delivery will be the one and only option if you are a private seller.

Slightly worried about an email received from eBay over the weekend, they want me to add my NI number as by all accounts I have gone over the threshold for total sales in one year, this is due to a bike that I sold last month, do I need to worry in anyway as it was mine to sell and I have the paperwork related to the purchase.
No nothing to worry about if you are genuinely just selling off old stuff.

I’m getting rid of my old Lego collection and a load of crap from the garage and went well over 1k.

It’s the ‘private’ sellers that are masquerading as a business that will have the problems.
