iPhone scams are rife. I've been screwed out of £1549 by Amazon. Ordered a brand new 16 Pro Max 1TB but got sent a refurb one. Returned it using the Amazon supplied label. Shows as delivered but they claim I didn't put the iPhone in the package... they say I put something else in. Won't tell me what. After a lot of back and forth they just told me that the case is closed. So - no iPhone and no £1549. Seems someone at their returns processing has stolen it and claimed I didn't return it. Amazon don't care.

As far as eBay goes... over the years I've sold old iPhones on there without issue. But now, I won't bother. Way too many scams and as someone else has said, the public are at a moral all time low. So I'll just lose money on old handsets trading them in to commercial traders instead.

I don’t know the procedure but I’d be going straight to small claims court with that one, surely there must be some way of raising a case against amazon

I've heard horror stories about people doing this and Amazon banning them for life I know it's sad but I for one would really miss the services frown

I think I’d be approaching my credit card company for a section 75. Given the way things are going with so many such purchases, I no longer use any other means of payment for purchases other than consumables (I.e. restaurants, food shopping etc). It’s sad, but you just have to assume that everyone is out to fiddle you these days.

It's currently with the bank who have taken it on. It was a business account / business card and Barclays are onto them... but who knows what will happen.

As someone else said, I'd struggle to not use Amazon again... which is pathetic really. So I'll just hope the bank sorts it and that's that.

But it seems anything iPhone related is pure chance! So many crooks / petty criminals infesting every part of everyday life.

I wonder what the long term effects of this will be for ebay businesses. Especially the ones who buy from the public and resell.

Bad isn’t it. I’ve already told them how i got the parcel back, manager is ringing me on Monday.

I downloaded a barcode scanner on my phone and while the QR code gives nothing, the barcode comes up with the tracking number. Unless I’m mistaken there is no way for a seller to see the eBay return label sent to the buyer? If so there is no way i could fake a barcode. You would hope this makes eBay see sense but somethings telling me they will screw me over on this, mainly the way they have acted up to now.
Just as an update eBay have refunded me, not before asking me to provide a crime reference number though. Also they told me that the scammer is also keeping their money (and the phone) and is free to carry on scamming others.

Well i had 4 things on auction over the last week or so, knew the rough valuations of what i was selling so had a figure in my head of what i was looking to achieve.

Three cheaper items went for a bit more than expected but one more expensive item went for a bit less however overall i still achieved more than i expected for the group of items.

However one guy wants to collect an item and the new ebay system is proving to be a real pain in the ass.

There has to be some knock on though, as it could make them less competitive.

That's good news but so stupid of them to refund the buyer first - Royal Mail didn't help here either...

The Police won't do anything unfortunately

So I now seem to have this 'Simple Postage' stopping me from listing and relisting items...

You can manually select custom postage / advanced options but I have lost the ability to put in the size and weight.

Absolute shambles!

I've just sold an old CPU for just under £8 (free postage) + buyer's fee, so just sent it 2nd Class Large Letter for £1.55 (Tracked 48 would have been £2.70). Sod it, I can wait 15 days for that kind of pocket money amount.
An update on this. This sold late on Tue 11th, I despatched via Royal Mail 2nd Class (untracked) on Wed 11th, it was marked as delivered on Fri 14th, and funds were released on Mon 16th.

This was untracked, which eveyone assumes means that you have to wait 15 days.

Simple Delivery is now mandatory from mid April. grumpy

We'll see how it goes - it might be okay. Ebay are going to automatically leave positive feedback on promptly despatched/delivered items.

We’re continuing our mission to provide you with a great selling experience on eBay, which is why we made it free to sell. Now, we’re enhancing delivery so it’s faster, easier, and more secure for you to send your items.

Starting from 15 April, Simple Delivery will be the only delivery method available for private sellers when listing most items. There’ll be a few exceptions, such as low-priced, bulky items, and local pick-up, which aren’t eligible for Simple Delivery.

What is Simple Delivery?
Simple Delivery is our all-in-one delivery solution, designed to cut out all of the effort and save you money. It’s also the fastest way to get paid on eBay. Plus, buyers will benefit from savings and enjoy the peace of mind that tracking offers. Here’s how it works:
1.
When listing, we’ll recommend the size and weight of your item. Just confirm and we’ll do the rest.
2.
Once your item sells, you won’t need to worry about buying a postage label. Instead, you’ll receive a QR code and prepaid printable label so you can choose what’s easiest.
3.
Drop off your item at the nearest carrier location, or schedule a home collection and you’re done!
You’ll still be able to choose the carriers by going to Postage Preferences in your account settings. We recommend enabling all carriers for the most competitive postage rates.

Benefits of Simple Delivery
Simple Delivery offers a faster and easier experience:

Save 20% off postage costs*: Get competitive rates to offer standard and express delivery with Royal Mail and Evri.

Full protection: Enjoy peace of mind with eBay's full coverage for items lost or damaged in transit, where we handle claims with buyers so you don’t have to.

Free postage option: Choose if you want your buyer to pay for the label, or offer free postage and cover the cost.

Prepaid and tracked labels: Labels come with automatic tracking, so buyers always know where their items are, and you get your funds faster.

Flexible labels: Use a QR code for quick printing at drop-off locations, or easily print your own label at home.

Positive feedback: From late April, you’ll automatically receive positive feedback for tracked transactions delivered on time, where no feedback has been left within 7 days and no issues are reported, so you get the recognition you deserve. Learn more about this change.
Simple Delivery will apply to new eligible listings by private sellers in the UK, and from 7 April to any existing listings that are eligible. If you selected buyer-paid postage, this will stay the same when your listings are updated. If you’re covering the costs, they’ll be deducted from your sales. Click the button below to see what’s eligible.

I'll not be offering free postage any more in that case, unless it is absolutely clear what the postage cost is going to be at the time of listing. Otherwise eBay can stiff the buyer with the postage costs.

I agree

My feedback when Ebay ask me about their latest "improvement" is always

"It's worse, stop messing about with it"

The fact that you could access a Classic version for years after the previous set of "improvements" demonstrates we're not alone

I’ll be leaving a few collection only items on my main account but will be cancelling all my other listings on my other accounts at least for a few weeks to see how it goes.

If it’s a st show I’ll call it a day.
