Hi, I have purchased a wireless-n mini router.
I had expeted this just to be a plug and play but seems not.
I want to use this to connect the mini router wirelessly to my ADSL router.
This would allow me to have the mini router upstairs so I can then connect my sky box through the ADSL wire connection on the mini router.
The unclear instructions state I have to configure the router via a web browser and offer 4 options:
1)Router mode
2)AP mode
3)Repeater mode
4)WISP mode
I would have thought it would be the Repeater mode, but this asks for a key, which I have no idea what it is?
Any ideas which mode and how to set this up.
Thanks

The key is the one you currently use to connect to your existing wireless network.

Thanks, I have found a much clearer set of instructions on the web.
It is the repeater mode I need and it seems now to be working.

ThoughtI had this sussed!
I am checking this by turning off the wifi on the laptop and connecting through the ADSL cable.
This works if the mini router is close to the ADSL wireless router.
But if I take the mini router into another room it does not work.
Surely the whole idea of these mini routers (if I read the blurb) is it will extend the range to rooms where signals are poor and allow ADSL cable connections to this mini router in the rooms?

Try it half way between the two rooms if you can, it might not have a good enough signal to reach your original router.

It works up to 4 meters away from the ADSL router, but any further nothing.
I had hoped to have this upstairs where the wifi signal is poor.
My understanding was that these were able to pick up a weak signal and boost this around the house, am I wrong?
If so what would accomplish this?

Which make and model is the router? Have you checked for conflicting local WiFi channels?

is it an old house with thick walls? You may need to connect the mini router on a pair of powerline adapters instead.

No other WiFi signals around.
It's our Spanish Villa, with solid concrete walls and floors, where we are trying to do this.

Your problem is the solid concrete walls. You'll need to run some Powerline network extenders to get the signal into the room where you want wireless access.

Much will also depend on the strength of the signal from the ADSL router.

You haven't said which make of mini router you have.

Also, which ADSL router are you using?

It will be worth also trying plugging mini router into the ADSL router with a cable and then setting the mini router up as a wireless Access Point (AP).

Then trying connecting the AP from the other rooms, not the ADSL router.

You may find that the mini router has a more powerful wifi signal than the ADSL router itself.
