Huawei P30 Pro

Does the P30 Pro support SMS over WiFi?
I'm on o2 but now out of contract. WiFi calling sorts dire reception at home but getting an SMS (eg a bank or credit card transaction OTP) usually involves standing in the back garden and requesting a couple of re-sends. o2 claim to be rolling out SMS over WiFi but only support a few Samsung models at the moment. A few other networks look to support more handsets but I've not found an answer if the P30 Pro will support this.

I loved my P30 Pro but swapped to an Oppo Find X3 Pro when my contract ran out because I wanted 5G.
Oppo is a great phone. Superb screen. Unlimited everything on a 2 year contract @ £40 a month.
Still got the P30 Pro as a back up though.
I had a good look at this, and it looks awesome with one exception.Oppo is a great phone. Superb screen. Unlimited everything on a 2 year contract @ £40 a month.

The battery is only about 4/5 as long lasting as the Huawei
(GSMArena review 81hrs vs 100)
Pity that, it would have made a good contender otherwise.

The speed it charges is phenomenal. It's freaky. Never seen anything like it.

Has anyone got the EMUI12 update yet. I haven't received any security updates for 6 months!
Yes on EE (unlocked) got it a few weeks ago, it doesn't change that much, Android version stays the same (which may be a good thing seeing how ste it's become with recent updates)rix said:
I had (have) a P30 Pro - also with a cracked screen! Bought a pixel 6 and despite all the amazing reviews I think the P30 Pro is a better phone with a better battery. Half tempted to get the P30 Pro fixed and ditch the pixel. First Google phone and probably wouldn't buy another...
Pixel 6 is notoriously bad on battery, pixels in general seem a bit hit and miss.I haven't yet found anything to replace my p30 pro with, so I'll just keep using it until it either breaks or performance drops below what is acceptable. This might be some time.

As per the other thread - I'm holding out for the Honor Magic 4 Pro - release is supposedly next Wednesday in the UK
First flagship from Honor since the split from Huawei - but should maintain some of the DNA....
That's one to look out for, although I still balk at paying circa £1k for a phone (I paid £650 or so for my p30 pro NE)First flagship from Honor since the split from Huawei - but should maintain some of the DNA....

The Magic 4 Pro looks promising but having got used to the 512GB of storage on my P30 Pro (that I'm not maxing out by any means) I'm keen to see how much the 512GB / 12GB RAM version of the 4 Pro will be over the one with 256GB / 8GB.
I just looked at what I'm using.Internal storage 46 GB used - 183GB free
SD Card 21 GB used - 95 GB free
I reckon I could just about get by on the 256GB (no SDCard) one at a stretch...
I think for most people the days of worrying about storage capacity/having to use a SDCard to make up the deficit are well behind us.

I have an SD card which is, frankly, awful - keeps dropping off and un mounting. Problem is, it's got loads of photos on it already. Urgh.
Take it out, give it a wipe and put it back in, mine was like that randomly for a while, it's been ok for a good few months now though (I probably jinxed it saying that)Gassing Station | Computers, Gadgets & Stuff | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
