Garmin Fenix 6
Discussion
Thanks for the advice guys/gals - popping into local Evan's tomorrow to try on both Instinct and 5X (they don't stock 6's yet).
Depending on what I like the feel of best, I'll put in for the C2W voucher.
After all, I'd feel decent value getting the functions of the Instinct at RRP. So spreading the cost over 12 months, zero interest and 35% off, and I wouldn't even notice the extra spend on a 6X Sapphire...
Will have to go mail order for the 6, nowhere near me stocking them via C2W.

I have a garmin 735xt, I am training for a triathlon so swim bike and run every week, for this I fail to see what else you would need! Battery life is superb and easy to function!
As for the smartwatch part, text and WhatsApp display as do phone calls.
For £200 it's a great bit of kit! The Garmin app is fantastic for analysing your training, sleep and heart rate!

I've been thinking of an "active" watch for a little while.
More for general health, tracking of dog walks/ 'get me home' after we've gotten utterly lost taking random trails in woods, etc.
Quitting smoking too, so would be nice to measure some of the benefits.
Was looking at the garmin instinct. Quite like the G Shock style (especially in red!) - but the Fenix is damned sexy. Plus, I'm going through C2W soon, and would happily throw one on top via Wiggle/et al and take the tax savings...
Talk me into, or out of, the Fenix 6 pro compared to the instinct please chaps!
I ordered an Instinct at the same time as the Fenix 6P with a view to returning one of them. The Instinct is all the watch you need. Sadly the display wasn’t large enough for my ageing eyes so I had to keep the Fenix. The display is crystal clear and easy to read but as soon as I put my contacts in or wore my glasses, I simply couldn’t read it! The fenix has the added benefits of third party watch faces. I’m using SC8 at the minute but Rails is another decent one. They both have huge time displays which suit me better. Really like it : only paid around 190 GBP whereas a fenix 6 would have been 3x that or more
Plus 2 tone screen means batteries lasts ages and the bezel protects the watch.
It does pretty much everything a fenix does except the detailed mapping is not on the screen.
Been wearing mine all week. Love it but...
Can figure out where to see the blood ox measurement it’s supposed to so unless I’ve misunderstood
The main reason I got one of these watches in the first place pulse rate.
It’s off, it’s way off. Fenix 5 was spot on checked against medical equipment ( more accurate if not perfect)
Got up the other day walked to the sink sat down again watch said my PR was 129 hooked up some equipment and actual rate was 72 watch settled down to 105 then eventually 90 after a few minutes
It’s always reading high
I’m liking the extra features over the 5 prob not worth it over the 5 pro etc

You need to turn the sensor on.Can figure out where to see the blood ox measurement it’s supposed to so unless I’ve misunderstood
Hold down menu
Scroll down to Sensor & Accessories
Scroll down to Pulse Oximeter
Set to All Day or Durning Sleep
It's off by default. It eats battery. Mine went from 7 day when "on" to 14 days "at night" to 21 days "off". I've no need for it, as not exactly training at altitude so have left it off.

Yeah did that. Just couldnt find results but played around and found them. 96% which is generally what I get these days. Takes a lot of playing around these watches for us old folks.
Just reordered them so pr and pox are there when I press menu.
Resting PR is around 60 so that’s not too bad at moment not sure why it jumps around a lot not very reassuring

I have had mine on all week and I had some issues with HR initially. When I was on my trainer the watch was reading 10-15% higher than my chest strap. I tightened the strap and it was pretty much bang on. Edited by Pesty on Friday 10th January 16:46
I'm loving mine so far, taking me a while to get used to all the functions and navigating all the menus after coming from a fit bit. Really like the track back and back to start functions, useful if you go out for a run in a random direction.
Can any recommend any decent watch faces, I like ones with lots of stats.
Cheers
