Anyone use a gaming chair for work?

Been looking for a fervent chair for my study now I'm going to be WFH for at least the next few weeks.
Does anyone use a gaming chair? They actually look very comfy with bolstered sides and car like seats but what are they actually like? They seem good value at between 1 and 200 pounds.

Yes. I use a SecretLab Titan as my work chair. Really comfortable with a huge range of adjustment.

I'm sure gaming chairs work more than well enough for a lot of people, but you really need ergonomic if you're going to be spending any real time on it in my opinion. A proper ergonomic chair should have an independent back, ie. it isn't attached/pivoting from the top edge of the seat like with a car seat.
You don't need to spend 500-1000+ on a new chair. there's loads of companies especially around London doing refurbs of high end/expensive stuff which you can pick up for the same or not a lot more than premium 'gaming' chairs, lots of Herman Millers etc.
We've got a HÅG Sofi as well, but I just replaced my 10 year old RH Logic 400 with one via ebay, Ellegance model leather+leather seat back just missing leather armrest - listed at £600 but they took an offer of £450, 24m warranty so not bad, it's like new and would have been £1700+. They're great chairs, a fabric refurb should be a bout £250-300.

Two GT Omega Racing Pros bought for my two boys for their gaming. two Christmases ago.
So impressed so bought one for my computer desk and it's brilliant. Under £200 (now £180) and great quality with good lumbar and back support. Plenty of colour combinations too.

+1I've been soldiering on with a Costco "Executive" chair purchased a long while ago - possibly a decade - and it's been pretty good, but just starting to show its age and use in the last 3-6 months.
Costco current offering (was my preference because I could at least see the quality and have a sit) does not appear particularly well built and doesn't have the comfort.
I hadn't - until now - considered a gaming chair could be the answer - so how do I assess these from afar? Just read reviews I suppose and weigh up apparent VFM?

Last time I felt the urge for something like this it involved taking a standard office chair with arms from the pile of junk ones, then bolting a stripped car seat to it.
To be honest (as said above) a refurb/used premium ergonomic office chair is just a nicer option, gaming seats are sold more on looks/concept than actually being any good - side supports?!

Not sure there is actually anything "special", apart from the fact that the design is clearly inclusive of the issues associated with sitting in one place for an extended period.
But the sorts of features which my body is being subjected to right now (this is with the SecretLabs Titan XL - about £350 before VAT):
- solid base
- designed with a bit more width (XL version)
- lumbar support, right in the small of the back (Lordosis - I can really feel it evenly supportive)
- head support (enhanced by a standard extra - a memory foam pillow, which means when you look up from the screen and tilt head back it is perfectly supported behind the neck and is at the exact right height for me (1.9m))
- arms adjust up and down and twisting in and out (will also adjust inwards more from under the base) so elbow/forrearms are always either supported when resting or free to move when in action
- basically the seat - at first - feels a bit "hard" but very soon you realise this means it supports you, and seems to keep all your bones in the right place - something you'll appreciate as you getold more *mature*
I am one of those people who like to have my car seat near upright when driving - possibly from years of motorcycling which means I only feel physically and mentally ready to go if I am at the right angle over the front wheel
and that sort-of carries over to wanting to be more upright but supported when working away at the Mac..... in fact, must get back to my work now...... and I'll be here all day!!!

I don't know about the Secretlabs talked about above, as said, most reviewers got given chairs for some exposure, but the Noble I have has been proven to be very good quality. My "ergonomic" chairs didn't last that long before noticeable sag - I just checked, it's nearing two years -. (mind you, I'm a powerfully built company director
). Anyway, chairs are very personal and if you like the look...I went for the "Tan" real leather one but in terms of looks it's actually a bit too orange for my taste.

We’ve just got a GTomega element chair for the home office/gaming room, I’ve had their wheel stand for years and been impressed so went with them. A very comfortable chair and less shouty than most gaming chairs. So impressed so bought one for my computer desk and it's brilliant. Under £200 (now £180) and great quality with good lumbar and back support. Plenty of colour combinations too.

In my search for a new gaming/working chair I looked at both Secret labs and noble chairs. Eventually settled on a real leather noble icon in tan over the secretlabs chairs. It felt like a lot of the endorsements for the secretlabs chairs came from freebies and I didn’t like the massive logos all over the chair backs. The noble icon in tan is pretty understated, less of a gaming chair in looks and very comfortable and flexible. It reminds me of a sports car seat and I’d thoroughly recommend the chair and brand. Great quality and well made.
Only negative and it really is minor is that you have to put it together yourself which took about 20 minutes.
