I don't believe they are, my son and I both managed to get 3070 FE delivered to the same address.
Pre-Christmas? I’m sure a few people on OCUK have fallen foul of this since it was implemented. They picked up a lower tier card because it was available, then at a later date tried to get the 3080FE or 3090FE and couldn’t.

Give it a go though by all means.

Today costco have listed some AWD-IT 3070 and 3080 pre built PCs. Start at £1199 which is pretty good assuming you are looking for a complete PC.

It seems crazy typing this, but that's a great deal. You could buy one and throw away all the rest of the bits and it would be no more expensive than just buying a 3080 just about anywhere else.

To be fair it's not Nvidia that's setting prices - it's the AIBs that are upping the prices.

Looks like Resizable BAR is available for lots of RTX30x0 GPUs now.

Similar to AMDs vaunted/marketed SAM (Smart Access Memory), but now available on Nvidia too.

And makes next to naff-all difference in most applications, it would seem.

Isn't it shown as increasing the 1% and 0.1% low FPS in games keeping the FPS at a constant high even when there's more happening (more explosions, NPCs, things being drawn) on screen?

Yep, I got it working and didn't notice a difference in iRacing (which is all I play) but apparently big differences in certain titles.

Yeah, higher minimums and a few extra FPS at the other end, as long as you’ve got the suitable hardware.

But it's free, and is really meant for games (or apps that have been coded to take advantage of the expanded video memory bandwidth).

But some applications and games show a significant hit, so coffee

The prices that NVidia were charging the third parties for the RTX30xx chips were such that they were never really going to be able to match the 'from £xxx' tag that NVidia put on their pre-launch advertising.

NVidia put out a limited number of FE cards at the RRP (nowhere near enough to meet demand, even in a normal market) and then the AIBs who will make up the vast majority of card sales end up looking greedy for trying to make a profit.

We're now seeing asking prices go up somewhat to match demand, and retailers seem to be gouging extra on top of that. Even then, cards are going immediately they are put on sale. If you look at the prices that 3070s and 3080s are fetching on eBay, it's clear that the totally free market prices the cards way higher than AIB cards are selling for at regular online retailers. And right now, eBay is about the only place where you can actually get a card - if you are prepared to pay a lot of money.

That's supply and demand for you - bitcoin has just gone over $60k, other cryptos will be dragged upwards with it and thus powerful GPUs are money making machines in the current climate. On top of that, we could very well be about to be hit by heavy general price inflation which would make current prices look reasonable a year or two down the line.

I'm just watching the various discords/telegram groups/twitter posters and hoping to snap up an FE card whenever Scan have them. A 3080 would be ideal but any of the three FE models come up, if I can get one I'll take it.

Yes, even with Nvidia's whitelisting/blacklisting there seems to be some discrepancies in what Nvidia are getting and what independent reviewers are seeing.

Maybe I'll wait a couple of revisions wink

Prices are a secondary effect - it’s mismanaging a key technology rollout that means we shouldn’t trust nVidia with ARM

Well, I did want to upgrade my whole PC just before Xmas 2020, but figured I would wait until GPU's became more available.

Four months on, still the same problem, and it seems it's not getting any better any time soon (same with availability of PS5's)

I will not pay so much for a GPU, some are mad to pay such inflated prices, so will now wait another year. My system still isn't so bad (Intel 8700k, 32gb Ram and 1080ti)

People who are spending upwards of £2k for a gpu really must have money to burn, unless it is absolutely essential for business and they have little choice!

That's the situation I was in, but I eventually figured I would wait at least a year to so I swallowed my pride and in late Feb I picked up a 3070 and set it earning its supper mining ether. It's clawed back over half of the 'premium' over RRP that it cost me already. Just sayin'

My situation is maybe slightly different as I didn't already have a 1080Ti, just a 1650, but even so, I regret not jumping even sooner.

What did you pay for the 3070? Some of the recent scalper prices have been insane, but I'd like to pick one up at some point.
