I'd take it for that, but not for gaming
Fine by me.Once it's not mine it's of little concern to me what's done with it...you could use it to flaunt your mining profits and spread your gold-flake Nutella with it.
ETA: it's arrived a day early - and it's a chonky beasty!!!
Zotac RTX3070 has now been removed, and this beast is in it's place - and it fits with about 30mm clearance to the front fans.
Just to keep everything in the open, I have contacted Calza to complete the deal.

Would something like this be a sensible buy or are they still at crazy money?

I was thinking of getting the reverb G2, its currently £524 on Amazon which I think is a decent price but need a better card to use it. I paid £800 for a 1080ti just over 3 years ago so this is well over a 50% increase on the latest card out.

If you can be bothered to do the Telegram trigger finger thing the 3080 will be less than half that price and within 10% of its performance. I'm not sure I can be bothered.
I've got a G2. I'll be getting rid of it when I get around to it. It's still a generation or two away. It's comfortable and the clarity thing is true, but for me at least the clarity is a 1cm dot in the middle and everything else is a blur. I don't trust the build quality either. At all.
Your experience may well be head size and shape dependent. Mine is humongous.

Mine was direct from Scan 2 days ago, and was £1049, thanks to a post by F20CN16 on here...https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174852790155?hash=item2...
But that's assuming you're prepared to wait for the lottery to go your way!
What about this deal from Scan, supposedly today only.

You get the card and a 850W power supply for £1370, power supply is worth about £120. I would need a better power supply anyway if I upgraded my card. I don't mind paying the price but I would feel cheesed off if they were only £500 in 6 months.

Prices seem to be tumbling quite quicky and stock is far more readily available, especially 3060 and 3070's - I mean, they've an in-stock 3070Ti at the moment for £700....which (while not in RRP terms, but in recently crazy pricing terms) quite "reasonable".
I think for me it's the psycological aspect of paying these prices when the FE's drop for significantly less....assuming you're sitting at your PC with credit card in hand when they drop!

Ooof. My 3070ti was from Scan, and was less than that bundled with a 1TB SSD (which went straight into the NAS so wasn't wasted). There are actual RRP cards to be had with a little patience, particularly in the Scan bundles. Just make sure you want (or can sell on) the rest of the bundle and they're decent value.

Don’t do that. 3080 Ti is about 10% faster than a 3080 but hundreds more. It seems to exist just to make a 3080 look like good value at £1k.https://www.scan.co.uk/products/palit-rtx-3080-ti-...

The FEs require a lot of waiting around on maximum alert - and a bit of luck - to get though.I think for me it's the psycological aspect of paying these prices when the FE's drop for significantly less....assuming you're sitting at your PC with credit card in hand when they drop!
I spent almost three months checking my phone every time I got any sort of notification to see if it was a Scan FE drop. Missed a couple of drops for various reasons and I only got my 3070FE in the end from the F5 frenzy of seeing if any rejected sales got put back into play (there are always some because of the restrictions put into place to stop scalping).
Hopefully we will be seeing third party cards for something close to the SRP prices that the FEs go for. The situation for the past 9 months or so has been absolutely ridiculous.
It's just not the 3090 and New World with EVGA cards going pop it could be all FTW3 variants, owners please read - https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/evgas-gpu-fans-are-tryi...
Be careful.

Jayztwocents did a test, getting some odd results - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpvsaedeeqgBe careful.
But he was using an early card with an already patched New World.

Does anyone know what Scan's rules are for 'repeat' customers? I've gone back some pages but can't see anything about it, but I'm sure that I've seen something about a policy.
I happened to be next to my phone this afternoon when a Telegram alert popped up and I was quick/lucky enough to be able to order a 3070FE from Scan.
I'd always thought that a 3080FE would be my preferred option (even though the 3070 will probably be enough for me). So, if a 3080FE does pop up at some point, would Scan let me buy it?
